I stayed there last spring during Floriade – you know, that massive flower festival that turns the city into a colorful explosion – and honestly, it was one of those spots that just clicks right away. Pulling up to the address in postcode 2612, which is right in that buzzing inner north area near Dickson, I was already impressed. It’s tucked away on a quiet street off Northbourne Avenue, so you’re close enough to the action without the constant hum of traffic keeping you up at night. Check-in was a breeze – it’s all self-hosted with a key code, no awkward front desk chit-chat, though I did have to lug my bags up a couple of flights of stairs (elevator’s there, but it was out that week – minor gripe, but hey, good cardio). Stepping inside, though? Whoa. The place opens up to this massive living area with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Lake Burley Griffin. I mean, watching the sunset paint the water orange while sipping a coffee from the fully stocked kitchen – it felt like I’d scored the best seat in the house.

What really sets this penthouse apart, though, is how it balances that high-end vibe with practical touches that make you feel settled in. It’s a solid 4-star setup, but the 9.8 rating isn’t hype – it’s earned. The two bedrooms are spacious, with these super comfy king beds (one with an en-suite that has a rain shower that’ll make you linger way too long in the mornings), and there’s a balcony where you can actually hear the birds chirping over the distant city sounds. I loved the little details, like the fresh eucalyptus scent from the diffusers they leave out – sort of nods to the Aussie bush without being over-the-top. Kitchen’s got everything: a Nespresso machine, dishwasher, even herbs growing on the windowsill if you fancy cooking up something from the nearby Dickson Woolies (that’s the local supermarket, by the way – grab some fresh prawns and throw ’em on the BBQ out back). Parking was easy with the secure spot underground, which is a godsend in Canberra where street parking can be a nightmare during events. And location-wise, you’re a quick 10-minute walk to Braddon for killer cafes – try Lazy Su for dim sum if you’re into that – or hop on a bike path to Parliament House. It’s not dead quiet at night, what with the occasional car from the avenue, but earplugs sorted that out for me. Oh, and if you’re traveling with a group or family, the second bedroom doubles as a chill zone with a pull-out sofa – we had friends crash one night, no issues.

Look, if you’re after that perfect mix of views, comfort, and easy access to Canberra’s underrated gems (seriously, skip the tourist traps and hit the National Gallery for a quiet afternoon), this place is a winner. It’s not the cheapest – rates spike in peak season like summer when everyone’s flocking for the festivals – but for what you get, it’s worth it. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially for that view that makes you forget you’re in the middle of the capital. Just pack light if the elevator’s finicky, and you’ll be golden. Trust me, it’s the kind of stay that leaves you raving to friends like I’m doing now.

  This apartment is in a wonderful location with lots of bars, restaurants, noodle places etc in the same street. It is very comfortable with good heating and a great view.
