Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon A by Adina Canberra kind of by accident last year when I was down there for a work thing – it’s right on Constitution Avenue, smack in the middle of that whole civic area, you know, just a stone’s throw from Lake Burley Griffin. I mean, pulling up to the place after a long drive from Sydney, I was beat, but the lobby hit me with this sleek, modern vibe – not over-the-top fancy, but like a cool apartment building you’d actually want to live in. Check-in was a breeze; the staff were these friendly locals who chatted about the best spots for a flat white nearby (head to Mocan & Green Grout if you’re into that artisanal coffee scene – it’s just a quick walk down Marcus Clarke Street). Honestly, parking was the only minor hassle – it’s underground and secure, but during peak hours when parliament’s in session, it can get a bit crowded with all the suits rushing around. But hey, once you’re in, the views from the higher floors? Stunning – overlooking the lake and those manicured gardens, especially at dusk when the light bounces off the water. It’s quiet too, surprisingly, given how central it is; no blaring traffic noise seeping in, just the occasional hum of the city winding down.
What really sold me on the place was how it felt more like a home base than a hotel – the rooms are these spacious apartments with full kitchens (I whipped up a quick brekkie one morning using stuff from the nearby Canberra Centre markets), and the beds? Oh man, plush and comfy, with those crisp white linens that smell faintly of lavender or whatever they use in the laundry. I stayed in one of the one-bedroom suites, and it had this balcony where I could sip my evening wine watching the joggers loop around the lake – perfect for unwinding after traipsing through the National Gallery or the War Memorial, which are both under 10 minutes away on foot. You know what, the pool and gym on site are solid too; the pool’s heated, which is a godsend in Canberra’s chilly winters (pack layers if you’re visiting in July – it gets nippy). There’s even a little sauna – nothing extravagant, but it was a nice touch after a day of exploring. One small gripe? The Wi-Fi can be spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, but it’s free and fast enough for emails and such. Overall, it’s got that 4.5-star polish without feeling stuffy – like, they have bikes you can borrow to cruise along the paths by the lake, which is way better than dealing with the bus crowds during tourist season.
Look, if you’re heading to Canberra – whether for the cherry blossoms in spring or just to check out the capital’s underrated food scene (try Pilot for dinner; it’s a short Uber from the hotel) – I’d totally recommend A by Adina. It’s not the cheapest spot, sure, but for an 8.8 rating, it delivers that effortless comfort that makes you forget you’re away from home. Well, almost – I did miss my own coffee machine, but theirs wasn’t half bad. Anyway, it’s the kind of place that sticks with you, you know? Go for it if you want central without the chaos.

Stunning property with top notch amenities and finishes.
Great service – Paul from Australia – 12 July 2025 (8/10)
Modern, clean.
When I arrived I asked about the building works next door and they moved me to another room. I am sensitive to noise.
Turns out there was roadworks going on on the other side. They moved me to an upgraded room and that solved that. Exceptional service.
What could be improved: There’s a lot of construction work going on in the area, some of it 24/7, so if you’re sensitive to that stipulate that and get put in a suitable room of maybe consider another hotel.Would recommend and stay again – Michael from Australia – 11 July 2025 (9/10)

Lovely and well appointed room
Quiet!
From the street and within the accommodation itself.
Some really lovely places to eat some delicious meals very close by 🙂
What could be improved: Believe it or not, it was too warm (Canberra in winter!) in the room.
The lowest air conditioning setting was 18…too warm to sleep…uncomfortably warm overnight…
And without any air conditioning it was very cold in the room…
The basin in the bathroom also had very poor drainage…Exceptional – John from Australia – 26 June 2025 (10/10)
Modern, clean and spacious rooms with excellent amenities. Great shower. Very convenient location.
Perfect place for a short stay. – Amelia from New Zealand – 26 June 2025 (10/10)
Very clean. Lovely shower. Nice comfty bed. Friendly helpful staff. Late check out. Nice food places nearby within walking distance and a shopping mall.
What could be improved: No in-house kitchen but there was a lovely cafe just next door that had the best breakfast.
