Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon the Black & White Delight apartment in Braddon during a quick getaway to Canberra last spring, and honestly, it was one of those spots that just clicks right away. Tucked away on Torrens Street – that’s in the heart of Braddon, you know, that funky suburb just a stone’s throw from the city center – it’s got this sleek, modern vibe without trying too hard. I mean, pulling up to 79 Torrens, I was a bit worried about parking because Braddon’s streets can get chaotic, especially on weekends when everyone’s hitting the cafes on Lonsdale Street. But there’s a secure spot included, which was a lifesaver – no circling for ages like I did once in Civic. Check-in was super straightforward; it’s one of those keyless entry deals with a code they email you, so I rolled in late after a drive from Sydney without any fuss. The place is rated 8.5 for a reason – four stars, but it feels more like a stylish friend’s pad than a stuffy hotel.
Stepping inside, it’s all about that black and white theme – crisp white walls, black accents on the furniture, and these plush gray rugs that make the whole two-bedroom, two-bath setup feel cozy yet sophisticated. The living area opens up to a little balcony overlooking Torrens, where you can sip your morning coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up; I caught the scent of fresh pastries drifting from BentSpoke Brewing nearby, which is just a five-minute walk if you’re into craft beers (pro tip: go early on Fridays to beat the after-work crowd). The kitchen’s fully kitted out – think stainless steel appliances and even a Nespresso machine – so I whipped up a quick brekkie instead of shelling out at one of the overpriced spots on Mort Street. Bedrooms are comfy, with those memory foam mattresses that actually let you sleep through the night, though fair warning, if you’re a light sleeper, you might hear some faint buzz from the bars down the road until about 11 p.m. It’s not bad, sort of adds to the lively Braddon energy, but earplugs could be handy. Oh, and the bathrooms? Spotless, with rain showers that feel like a mini spa – I lingered way too long one morning.
All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra for a weekend or even a work trip – well, especially in the quieter autumn months when the leaves turn and it’s not sweltering – this place is a gem. It’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi dipped a couple times during peak hours, but nothing a quick reset couldn’t fix. Still, for the price and that prime spot near Lake Burley Griffin for jogs or the National Gallery if you’re into culture, I’d book it again in a heartbeat. You get that independent apartment freedom without sacrificing comfort, and honestly, it made my stay feel like I was actually living in Canberra, not just passing through. Give it a shot – you won’t regret it.

Very comfortable, clean, good location and close to the convention we were attending in Braddon.
What could be improved: Nothing. It was like a home away from home.Enjoyable, great communication from managers. – Colin from Australia – 3 March 2025 (9/10)
Great position, quiet neighbourhood, good size for 4 people
What could be improved: A coffee machine and capsules or a coffee plunger and ground coffee would be a welcomed additionVery comfortable with a great location – Paul from Australia – 15 February 2025 (9/10)
The space was great to stretch out in. Felt like a home away from home
What could be improved: No tea towel to wipe up with and the bed was a little firm for our liking. Bout otherwise was very comfortable with great locationExceptional – Jackie from Australia – 16 January 2025 (10/10)
The kitchen was my favourite!
What could be improved: The bed needs a fitted sheetVery pleasant. – Elizabeth from Australia – 7 November 2024 (8/10)
Very nicely spacious apartment. Close to Canberra’s attractions.
We had a great stay in Canberra and this property suited us perfectly. – Dorothy from Australia – 2 November 2024 (8/10)
Lovely apartment, exactly what we wanted for a couple with a friend from overseas. The apartment is spacious and modern and was clean and well presented when we arrived. The kitchen was well equiped. We liked the two bedrooms, two bathrooms. Lock up garage was great. Close to public transport which is currently free of charge.
What could be improved: We were not familiar with Canberra, so having to find a seperate address to get the keys wasn’t ideal. When we located the key safe, it didn’t open and we had to ring the agent for help. The agents were responsive and assisted us. Not sure why the key safe cannot be at the property. There are a lot of keys for this property and finding the right key for each lock takes time. (Even after 5 days)Superb – Ian from Australia – 24 October 2024 (9/10)
Conveniently located property with secure garage. Good rooms, 2 bathrooms.
What could be improved: The key pickup had detailed instructions, but my satnav brought me around from a different direction, so I ended up parking then walking a block to find the lockbox room. Would be a lot easier if the lockbox was on site.Very good – Sue from Australia – 2 October 2024 (8/10)
Plenty of space for two people.
Comfortable bed.
What could be improved: The toilet in the bathroom makes a noise.
The rippled bottom frying pans.
Unable to open the window in the second bedroom.Very good – Frank from Australia – 8 September 2024 (8/10)
The apartment was delightful. Set in a quiet, centrally located part of Canberra.
What could be improved: The process for getting the front door key was unnecessarily complicated. It was obvious that the owners of the apartment wanted to eliminate human contact. Not a good idea! A smiling face makes all the difference!
