Canberra City – Parking – Self check-in – Pool Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw Canberra City – Parking – Self check-in – Pool pop up in my search results, the name made me chuckle a bit. It’s like they just listed everything you’d actually want to know upfront, which honestly? Kind of refreshing after scrolling through a dozen places with fancy names that tell you nothing.

The self check-in thing actually works really well here, especially if you’re arriving late like I was after that brutal drive from Sydney. You know how Canberra can feel a bit sleepy after dark – well, being able to just grab your key code and get settled without hunting down reception was perfect. The whole process is pretty streamlined, though I’d recommend double-checking your booking confirmation email before you arrive since that’s where all the access info lives. The parking situation is genuinely stress-free too, which anyone who’s driven around the parliamentary triangle during sitting weeks will appreciate. No circling blocks or feeding meters – just pull in and you’re sorted.

What really won me over was the pool area, actually. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s properly maintained and gets decent sun in the afternoons. I ended up spending way more time there than planned, just because it felt like a proper break from all the museum-hopping and politics tourism that Canberra seems designed for. The water temperature was spot-on even in autumn, and there were enough loungers that I never felt like I was competing for space. You’re also close enough to the city center that grabbing dinner at Civic or even venturing out to Braddon for some of those trendy spots doesn’t require planning an expedition. I mean, nothing’s really that far in Canberra anyway, but you get what I mean – you’re not stuck out in some suburban nowhere wondering how to get decent coffee. The whole setup just makes sense for the kind of trip where you want to do your own thing without fuss, whether that’s early morning laps before hitting the galleries or a quick dip after spending too long at Parliament House pretending to understand budget estimates.

Best hotels in Canberra range from luxurious properties in the parliamentary district to boutique hotels with stunning views of Lake Burley Griffin and contemporary government buildings.

The kitchen was well equipped .
The location is centre centre…. Right opposite the main shopping mall.
The onsite parking is a real perk!

What could be improved: If I were to be picky, probably more towels and larger towels would have been great.

Everything! The apartment is extremely comfortable and the bed provided great sleep. The location is perfect–we could walk to every place we wanted to visit in Canberra. We loved the complementary coffee, breakfast goodies and fresh milk….:)

What could be improved: The elevators took a bit to move between floors. I think people were moving in/out of the building.
