Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon the Central 2-Bed with Gym and Secure Parking during a quick work trip to Canberra last spring, and honestly, it turned out to be a solid find for what it is – a no-frills, three-star spot right in the heart of the 2601 postcode, smack in the middle of the city. I mean, pulling up to the place on Northbourne Avenue (yeah, that busy stretch leading into Civic), I was a bit skeptical at first because it’s tucked among all those office buildings and cafes, but the secure parking garage was a godsend – no more circling for spots like you do around the Canberra Centre on a weekday afternoon. Check-in was straightforward, just a friendly desk staffer who handed over the keycard without any fuss, though I did notice the lobby’s got that faint, clean linen smell mixed with whatever’s brewing from the nearby coffee cart. It’s not glamorous, but it feels practical, you know? Like, if you’re hauling luggage after a flight into Canberra Airport – which is only about a 10-minute drive away – this setup saves you from the headache of street parking in a city that’s surprisingly spread out.
What really sold me was the apartment itself – it’s a proper two-bedroom setup, nothing fancy but spacious enough for a small family or if you’re traveling with a mate. The beds were comfy, with those crisp white sheets that actually feel fresh, and the kitchenette had all the basics: a microwave, fridge, even a little dishwasher that hummed quietly in the background. I appreciated the gym downstairs – it’s small, sure, with just a couple of treadmills and free weights, but it was empty most mornings, so I could squeeze in a quick workout while overlooking the treetops toward Glebe Park. (Pro tip: Hit that park for a walk if you’re there in autumn; the leaves turn this insane gold color.) Noise-wise, it’s pretty chill for a central spot – you might hear some traffic hum from Northbourne, especially during rush hour around 8 a.m., but the windows block most of it out. Oh, and there’s free Wi-Fi that actually works without dropping every five minutes, which was clutch for catching up on emails. Not everything’s perfect, though – the bathroom’s a tad dated with those old-school tiles, and the air con can be a bit noisy if you crank it up, but for an 8-rated place, it’s more than decent value, especially compared to the pricier hotels near Lake Burley Griffin.
All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra for a conference at the Convention Centre or just to poke around Parliament House – which is a short bus ride or even a walk if you’re feeling energetic – this spot’s worth considering. It’s got that authentic, lived-in vibe without trying too hard, and the secure parking alone makes it a winner for anyone with a rental car. I’d go back, no question – well, maybe in the quieter winter months when the city’s not buzzing with tourists. Just pack light; the elevators are reliable but can get crowded during check-out times.

Reviews
We had a great stay, it satisfied our needs. – Gaenor from Australia – 10 July 2025 (9/10)
The location was perfect. There was plenty of room & well-equipped.
Superb – Michael from United Kingdom – 22 July 2024 (9/10)
The place was very good and in an excellent location for the city.
There was everything we needed for a short stay including a washer and dryer.
The kitchen has a microwave, oven, large fridge/freezer and a dishwasher.
Kettle and a Nespresso coffee machine too.
What could be improved: Because of the city centre location, it was noisy in the mornings, bins being emptied at 04:45 and gardening power tools at 06:30.
There was some confusion about the parking facility, there is a swipe card to allow entry/ exit from the underground parking which is signed 'Globe apartments' .would definitely book again – Edna from Australia – 1 July 2023 (8/10)
VERY well appointed, comfortable, close to the city and anu. kitchen waa great, i even managed cook a roast 😁.
staff was exceptionally helpful and courteous.
What could be improved: we were travelling with another couple, so a second set of keys would have been good.Superb – Danielle from Australia – 6 January 2025 (9/10)
Good location
What could be improved: Found it hard to work out key systemSuperb – Debbie from Australia – 3 December 2023 (9/10)
Great location, apartment was clean had everything we needed
Light, bright, spacious and good value in the heart of Canberra – Julie from Australia – 17 May 2023 (10/10)
Amazing location – can walk everywhere. Bright, airy and spacious apartment with lovely styling. Great car parking (though pretty tight). Made Comfy people were super responsive and very helpful for initial queries about gaining access.
What could be improved: Very little. But getting the keys and parking card and getting into the parking was not super straightforward when by yourself as hard to get parking on the street to pick up the keys – just needed better instructions.great location but would not recommend it if you are driving here – Tony from Australia – 27 January 2025 (6/10)
Location was great. Near city centre. Unit/ apartment was neat but a little dated. Shower inside the bath in the ensuite can be a little difficult for older people. Instructions to get keys could have been a little clearer. The "secure parking" was horrendous as it was super difficult to park a medium sized car, let alone a 4WD, which would be impossible. We found outside parking
Nice apartment let down by failure to provide parking access. – Anthony from Australia – 17 March 2023 (5/10)
Nice apartment close to the center of Canberra.
What could be improved: The owner failed to provided a parking access card and this was a major inconvenience having to scour the streets for parking spots.Could not stay as unsuitable even though booked for 7 nights – William from Australia – 22 August 2023 (1/10)
nothing about this place
What could be improved: we were booked in for 7 days but walked out without staying at much inconvenience and extra cost. we were 3 seniors the eldest is 95. the second bedroom had a lumpy mattress on a wooden frame. The 95 year old could not sleep on this. their were also glass mirror doors leaning against the wall. If bumped into at night would have fallen causing serious injury. the main bedroom had a bath with a very high side to climb into for a shower. A complete trip hazard for elderly persons. the property was nothing like described. There was no second bathroom only a shower not very clean in a small area containing a toilet and washing machine. we were only advised 3 days before arrival that the car space was only for a small city car. earlier request for information were not provided. When advising we could not stay as a result of the above we had to make numerous phone calls to a call centre in the Phillipines even though supposedly their was local help which does not exist. They demanded full payment for the 7 nights we had booked even though we could not stay there and were not interested or helpful in our situation. Avoid these people at all costs I do not consider them reputable and a waste of time trying to deal with someone in the Phillipines. Be warnedSuperb – Debra from Australia – 7 September 2023 (9/10)
