But this place? It’s tucked away just enough to feel residential, not smack in the middle of the chaos. Check-in was a breeze – self-service with a code they email you, which is perfect if you’re arriving late like I did around 9 PM. No front desk drama, just walk in, and bam, you’re home. The building itself has that modern apartment feel, nothing flashy, but clean lines and a secure entry that made me feel safe wandering back from a late dinner at one of those trendy spots on Mort Street – you know, the kind where they serve craft beers and wood-fired pizzas that smell amazing as you pass by.

Stepping inside the unit – well, it’s exactly what the name promises: comfortable and spacious, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms that actually feel lived-in, not like some sterile hotel room. I mean, the king bed in the main room was plush, with those soft, high-thread-count sheets that make you sink right in after a day exploring the National Gallery or hiking around Lake Burley Griffin, which is only about a 10-minute drive away. The living area opens up nicely, with a full kitchen – fridge, oven, even a dishwasher – so I whipped up breakfast one morning instead of shelling out for overpriced cafe eggs. There’s decent Wi-Fi too, which held up for streaming a movie on the smart TV after a rainy afternoon (Canberra weather, am I right? It can turn on a dime in autumn). Oh, and the bathrooms? Spotless, with rain showerheads that are a godsend for washing off the dust from a day out – though, fair warning, the water pressure dips a bit during peak hours, like early morning when everyone’s getting ready. It’s not perfect; Braddon can get a tad noisy with traffic humming on Northbourne Avenue nearby, especially if your window faces the street, but earplugs sorted that out for me. Still, the place has this cozy, homey texture – think soft rugs underfoot and big windows letting in that crisp Canberra light.

All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra and want something more than a cookie-cutter hotel – maybe for a family trip or just to spread out – this one’s a solid pick. Rated 8.7 for a reason, and at four stars, it punches above its weight without the pretentiousness. I stayed three nights and left feeling like I’d found a little gem in Braddon; it’s close enough to the action (hop on a bus to the city center in five minutes) but quiet enough to recharge. Just book ahead during events like Floriade in spring – that flower festival draws crowds, and places like this fill up fast.   We had to collect the keys off site and they weren't there-even though it was 5.30 and 2 1/2 hours after check-in. We messaged and it was resolved fairly quickly.
  
  What could be improved: We were down for a sporting event and the dryer didn't work which we really needed. Was replaced the next day but that one also didn't work so had to be replaced. Also resolved fairly quickly.

  The fact the room we booked was the room we received. Photos of the property were exact representations of what we got.
  The staff were very responsive and actually wanted to make our stay as best and comfortable as possible! Excellent 5 star rating and would definitely book this apartment again as well as recommend to friends and family.
