But honestly, pulling up to 65 Cooyong Street in the heart of Braddon, it felt like I’d stumbled onto a hidden gem. The building’s got that modern, understated vibe – not flashy, but clean and welcoming, with a secure entry that made me feel safe right away. Check-in was a breeze; it’s one of those self-service deals with a code sent to your phone, which is perfect if you’re arriving late after a drive from Sydney (like I did, battling that Hume Highway traffic). I mean, no awkward lobby chit-chat, just straight to your space. The apartment itself? It’s a cozy one-bedroom setup that actually lives up to the “comfy” name – think soft, king-sized bed with those crisp white sheets that smell faintly of lavender detergent, and a living area with a plush couch where I binge-watched some shows after a long day exploring. Oh, and the kitchen’s fully stocked – I whipped up a quick brekkie with eggs from the nearby Gorman House Markets, which are just a five-minute walk down Northbourne Avenue. It’s not huge, but for a solo traveler or a couple, it’s spot-on, with big windows letting in that golden afternoon light over the city rooftops.

What really sold me, though, was how central it all is without the chaos you’d get in, say, the middle of Civic during peak tourist season. You’re literally steps from Lonsdale Street’s buzzing cafes – I grabbed the best flat white of my life at Barrio Collective Coffee, and it’s so close you can smell the roasting beans from your balcony (if you get one of the upper units). Venture a bit further, and you’re at Lake Burley Griffin for a sunset stroll, or hopping on a bike to the Australian War Memorial – I did that one quiet morning, and it was magical, with hardly anyone around before 9 AM. Parking’s available in the building’s garage, but fair warning, it can get tight during weekday rush hours when everyone’s commuting into the city center; I ended up circling once or twice, but there’s street parking on Cooyong if you’re patient. Noise-wise, it’s surprisingly chill – a bit of distant traffic hum at night, but nothing that kept me up, especially with the thick curtains drawn. Well, except for that one Saturday when some festival spillover from Glebe Park got a tad rowdy, but that’s Canberra for you – lively but not overwhelming. The bathroom’s a highlight too; spacious shower with great water pressure, and those little touches like fluffy towels and eco-friendly toiletries made it feel more like a friend’s guest room than a generic rental.

All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra for work or just to soak in the capital’s vibe – maybe catching a show at the Canberra Theatre or wandering the National Gallery – this spot’s a solid choice. It’s got that 4-star polish with an 8.9 rating that feels earned, not inflated, and at the price, it’s way better value than those stuffy hotels down on London Circuit. I left feeling refreshed, like I’d actually lived there for a bit, you know? Sure, it’s not perfect – the Wi-Fi dipped once during a storm – but those minor hiccups just make it real. I’d book it again in a heartbeat for my next trip, especially in autumn when the leaves turn and the air’s crisp.

  The location is perfect. Easy to walk to everything, no need for a car. The unit is spacious and has everything you need.
  
  What could be improved: The check-out process is silly, time consuming and you have to pay to park your car once you've moved it from the parking garage. Since the key remote is needed to access the parking levels, I don't understand why you don't have the guest put the key back in the key safe where it is picked up from. Leaving the key in the room safe causes a lot of problems for the guest.

  The location is great – very close walking distance to the NMA, central shops and restaurants and other attractions. The building security is very reassuring and the secure parking was included in the price- valuable in this part of Canberra. The apartment is very clean with all kitchen and bathroom needs well supplied. Communication with the host was easy and efficient – the instructions, including a short video, were clear and easy to follow. An added bonus is the terrific 10/10 cafe downstairs -they serve a great breakfast! I will rebook for future trips to Canberra.

  We had a great stay at this one-bedroom apartment. It was clean, cozy, and well-equipped with everything we needed, even disposable sleepers and toothbrushes. The location was good, close to big shopping centre. The host was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
