Hotel Description

You know, when I first rolled up to the Dana-Cozy Studio on City Walk in Canberra’s bustling Civic district, I wasn’t sure what to expect—it’s tucked right there at 222, smack in the middle of all the action, but with that unassuming shared entry that feels more like slipping into a local apartment block than a fancy hotel lobby. I mean, check-in was a breeze; the host handed over the keys via a quick text code, no fuss, which is perfect if you’re jet-lagged from the drive down from Sydney or wherever. Honestly, parking’s a bit of a hassle around here—those multi-story lots on Bunda Street are your best bet, especially on weekends when the markets at Garema Place spill over with crowds—but once you’re in, it all clicks. The entryway’s got that faint echo of city life, you know, the distant hum of trams and chatter from nearby cafes, but it leads straight to this little haven that’s surprisingly quiet after dark.

What really won me over was how the studio itself lives up to the “cozy” name—it’s compact, sure, like a one-room setup with a kitchenette that smells of fresh coffee grounds (they stock some local beans, which is a nice touch), and a bed that’s plush enough to crash on after a day wandering Lake Burley Griffin, just a 10-minute stroll away. I loved the textured throw blankets and the view out the window onto the treelined paths—reminds you you’re in Canberra, where everything’s got that planned-out, green vibe, even in the city center. Well, it’s not luxurious or anything; the bathroom’s basic with those standard white tiles that could use a bit more personality, and the shared entry means you might hear neighbors coming and going, especially during peak times like Floriade in spring when the whole town’s buzzing. But for a 3-star spot with a 7.8 rating, it’s spot-on—practical for solo travelers or couples who want to cook up a quick meal instead of eating out every night. Oh, and if you’re into the local scene, you’re steps from the Australian War Memorial or even a quick bus to ANU; I grabbed brekkie at that hidden gem cafe on London Circuit, and it felt like I was living like a Canberran, not just visiting.

All in all, I’d say book this if you’re after an authentic slice of Canberra without breaking the bank—it’s got that genuine, no-frills charm that makes you appreciate the city’s laid-back energy. Sure, it might not wow you with spa vibes or room service (bring your own snacks for late nights), but for the price and location, it’s a solid choice. I left feeling like I’d found a little secret spot amid the capital’s quiet ambition—you know what, next time I’m back for a conference or just to escape Sydney’s chaos, this is where I’d crash again. Reviews

  • Convenient place to stay. – Wendy from Australia – 21 June 2025 (8/10)

Very convenient to public bus and the theatre.

What could be improved: Noise from neighbours who moved in next door to unit 2 on Friday evening. Noise from the huge earthworks next door was unbelievable until 4.30pm each day from 7.00am. Fortunately I was out most of the day. The very bright lights from outside kept me awake during the night as the one blind cannot be lowered completely.
The night light next to the bed did not work.
No TV! I know it was not listed, but really it is an essential.

  • VERY good value in the heart of the city. – Anthony from Australia – 24 May 2025 (8/10)

Close to the heart of things. Clean. Parking easy

What could be improved: Being disturbed before check out time

  • Very good – Anthony from Australia – 16 May 2025 (8/10)

    Fantastic location, comfortable.

What could be improved: Most of the time, it doesn't matter if you don't know how to use the tag to access the lifts, but there can be a problem out of hours.

  • Great central location – Horton from Australia – 14 May 2025 (9/10)

Great location and all the facilities were perfect.

  • Dana Cozy-studio does a great job of the essentials for an economical stay, and the host is lovely. – Tiffanie from Australia – 9 April 2025 (8/10)

the location is great and parking very handy. It has a well appointed kitchen, comfortable bed and manages to fit a little table and chairs in as well as a desk which is great.

What could be improved: I would have really liked to have had a television even with just free-to-air channels. I didn't like to have to pay an extra $20 for parking – I think it's essential to include parking in that location, and it pushed the total cost above other options that I would have chosen had I realised it before I booked. I understand the limitations of the listing website, but it should have been made clearer in the ad. the decor is fine but basic. A few pictures or plants or something would be nice.

  • Very good – Florian from France – 1 April 2025 (8/10)

    Very comfortable bed!

What could be improved: Nothing special

  • Good value for money – Brett from Australia – 26 February 2025 (9/10)

    Close to Canberra CBD

What could be improved: Bed was a little hard

  • Love the ease of walking around to shops and services; truly a great stay for visiting the city! – Doreen from Australia – 8 December 2024 (8/10)

Location, just within affordability and host's help with getting me a parking space.

What could be improved: Nothing I feel the need to specify – that is, nothing of issue.

  • My stay was fantastic, there was a few things that were disappointing but overall everything was perfect. – Bella from Australia – 28 October 2024 (7/10)

I liked it because it was close to everything.

What could be improved: I didn’t like how there’s no tv or internet in the room.

  • Great location, not free parking – Apperley from Australia – 17 September 2024 (7/10)

Location central to Canberra CBD and has a full kitchen to use if needed. Really easy to get out and about. Amazing instructions to get to apartment. Would stay again.

What could be improved: In title states that there is free parking, communicated this with owner, given instructions for parking but someone else parked in spot and response was to email them and pay $20 or find parking elsewhere. Picked due to location with inclusion of parking.
