Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon the Exclusive Braddon 2BR APT near Civic while planning a quick getaway to Canberra last spring – hosted by Canstay, and honestly, it turned out to be a gem for what I needed. Pulling up to the address in Braddon (that’s that funky suburb right on the edge of the city center, you know, with all those hipster cafes along Lonsdale Street), I was relieved to find street parking wasn’t a total nightmare, even though it can get dicey during peak hours when everyone’s hitting the bars. Check-in was a breeze – it’s one of those self-check-in deals with a lockbox, which is perfect if you’re arriving late like I did after the drive from Sydney. No fussing with front desks or anything; just punch in the code, and you’re in. The building itself is modern but not flashy – think clean lines and that subtle Canberra vibe where everything feels planned out, like the rest of the city. I mean, it’s not some grand hotel lobby, but stepping inside the apartment, the space opened up nicely, with big windows letting in that crisp autumn light. Oh, and the faint smell of fresh coffee from the downstairs roastery? Total bonus – it wafted up in the mornings and got me motivated to explore.
What really sold me on this place was how it felt like a proper home base, not just a sterile rental. It’s a two-bedroom setup, rated at 4 stars with an 8.8 overall, and yeah, it lives up to that – spacious living area with a comfy couch that I sank into after a day wandering around Lake Burley Griffin (which is just a 10-minute walk away, by the way, if you cut through the back streets near Mort Street). The kitchen’s fully kitted out – I whipped up a quick brekkie with eggs from the nearby farmers’ market on Saturdays – and the beds? Super plush, with those soft linens that make you forget you’re not at home. Noise-wise, it’s pretty quiet for being so central; sure, you might hear the occasional tram rumbling by on Northbourne Avenue, especially in the evenings, but it wasn’t disruptive – more like white noise that lulled me to sleep. One minor gripe, though: the Wi-Fi could be spotty during busy times, like when everyone’s streaming after work hours, but nothing a quick reset didn’t fix. And the bathroom’s got that rainfall showerhead – luxurious without trying too hard, you know? I spent one rainy afternoon just chilling on the balcony, watching the world go by, and it felt authentically Canberra – understated but with all the creature comforts.
All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra for a mix of sightseeing and downtime – think hitting the National Gallery or Parliament House, both super close via a short bus ride from Civic – this spot’s a solid choice. It’s not perfect (parking can be a hunt on weekends, fair warning), but for the price and location, it beats staying out in the burbs. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in spring when the cherry blossoms are popping – just book early, as Braddon fills up fast. Trust me, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel like a local, not a tourist.
