Hotel Description
You know, when I first rolled up to Home@Braddon on Mort Street in Canberra, I was honestly a bit skeptical – it’s tucked right in the heart of Braddon, which can get pretty lively with all the cafes and bars spilling out onto the sidewalks, especially on weekends. But man, pulling into that spot (they’ve got secure underground parking, by the way, which is a godsend in this part of town where street spots vanish like magic during peak hours), I felt this immediate sense of calm. The building’s got that modern apartment vibe, not some sterile hotel chain feel – think sleek lines, big windows letting in that crisp Canberra light, and a lobby that’s more like a cozy living room with fresh coffee brewing. Check-in was a breeze; the staff were these friendly locals who chatted about the best spots for brekkie nearby, like that little joint on Lonsdale Street where the avo toast is next-level. I mean, it’s not flashy, but it’s got this understated charm that makes you feel like you’re crashing at a mate’s fancy pad rather than a hotel.
What really sold me, though, was the room itself – I had one of those one-bedroom suites, and it was spotless, with a full kitchen that actually had decent pots and pans (none of that flimsy stuff you find in some places). The bed? Oh, it was like sinking into a cloud after a long day exploring; super comfy with those high-thread-count sheets that smell faintly of lavender from whatever eco-friendly laundry they use. And the location – well, you’re literally steps from all the action in Braddon. I wandered out one evening and ended up at this hidden gem of a bar on Elouera Street, grabbing craft beers while people-watching the after-work crowd. It’s quiet inside the hotel, though – those thick walls block out the street noise, which is impressive given how close you are to the city center. Honestly, if you’re into that mix of urban buzz and easy access, it’s perfect; I biked over to Lake Burley Griffin in like 10 minutes one morning, and it felt worlds away from the tourist traps. That said, it’s not without its quirks – the Wi-Fi can be a tad spotty during busy times, like when everyone’s streaming after dinner, but nothing a quick reset didn’t fix. And in winter, Canberra’s chill seeps in a bit if you leave the balcony door open, but they’ve got heaters that warm things up fast.
All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra and want something that feels authentic without skimping on comfort – especially for a longer stay – Home@Braddon is a winner. It’s got that 4-star polish with a 9.4 rating that actually lives up to the hype, from the thoughtful touches like complimentary bikes for borrowing to the way it just slots into the neighborhood vibe. I stayed there last spring, right when the jacarandas were blooming and turning the streets purple, and it made the whole trip memorable. Sure, it might not be the cheapest option, but for what you get – that blend of homey feels and prime positioning – it’s worth every penny. You’d love it if you’re the type who wants to dive into local life rather than just pass through.

Amazing location! – Kathy from Australia – 8 July 2025 (10/10)
The location was excellent! Fantastic food options, within walking distance, that catered for gluten free. The unit was very comfortable and well appointed.
Fantastic apartment in the heart of Braddon – Simone from Australia – 21 June 2025 (10/10)
The apartment was clean, comfortable and very well stocked with everything we could need. Location was fantastic and close to everything.
What could be improved: The car parking can be a little tricky in the underground car park.Great place to stay for a few days in Canberra – would suit a couple or small family. – John from Australia – 30 May 2025 (10/10)
Very comfortable unit in busy Braddon-convenient for shops, restaurants and access to the public transport system.
The host Eugene was very responsive with communication-thank you for helpful advice.
Unit had all that you could want for a few days in Canberra.
Good sefl catering facilities.
Make sure to read joining instructions as you need to access key lock box in the waste room accessed via roller door in garage drive way-using code to open and close.
Bed comfortable for a good night's sleep.
Luggage storage if needed at Bounce located in SUPA Convenience Store at 2 Mort St.
Highly recommended.
What could be improved: Great big smart Sony TV but no Free to Air via antenna – number of channels available, so no shortage of stuff to watch, but suggest bring login details for your own apps. Was able to watch State of Origin on 9Now.Great city stay – Fiona from Australia – 25 May 2025 (10/10)
Great location, clean, safe and quiet. Eugene very kindly accommodated our request for a later checkout.
What could be improved: Finding the allocated carpark space was a little challenging as the numbers aren’t sequential- it is located on the very last level of the basement.Brilliant accommodation in a fabulous location. – Cettina from Australia – 15 May 2025 (9/10)
Once I made the booking, communication with the host was immediate. All of the information we needed for our stay was provided, ensuring we had no difficulty finding our accomodation & gaining access to the property. The apartment is compact but had everything we needed for a relaxing stay.
What could be improved: Nothing, everything that is normally provided (and more) was provided, including enough coffee pods for a long stay. Normally we have to purchase pods and never get to use them all.Excellent accommodation. – Russell from Australia – 9 May 2025 (10/10)
Communications with the host Eugene was excellent with comprehensive entry instructions provided and any issues quickly sorted out. The apartment is well laid out with all you need for a comfortable stayand more. Beds were comfortable and all the appliances were good quality with the only issue being that the coffee pod machine was broken when we arrived but Eugene quickly offed to replace it. The tv is a huge smart tv for watching You tube on. The aircon was powerful and easy to control. It's a great place to stay.
What could be improved: Parking spot is a bit tight for those with bigger cars. The tv had no antenna connection so you had to watch via internet tv which makes it cumbersome to switch between channels. The cooktop was a modern European induction unit with the controls labelled with symbols which, as oldies, we found hard to fathom at first but eventually figured out. Maybe another page on your instructions Eugene?Very good – Anthea from Australia – 27 April 2025 (8/10)
Location was fantastic

What could be improved: The car park is very tight if all car parks are being used around you, you wouldn't get in especially with a large carFabulous stay at Braddon – Dunbar from Australia – 4 March 2025 (10/10)
The multiple bedding options are suitable to travelling with friends. Location to the main downtown civic area. Quiet location. Access to kitchen and white goods. Excellent host, Eugene
