Hotel Description
You know, when I first pulled up to the Kashmir Luxury Top Floor Apartment on Northbourne Avenue in Canberra, I was a bit skeptical – that stretch of road can get pretty buzzy with traffic, especially during rush hour when everyone’s heading into the city center from the north. But honestly, once I got the keys (it’s one of those self-check-in deals with a lockbox, which was super straightforward after a long drive from Sydney), and rode the elevator up to the top floor, all that faded away. The place is tucked into a modern building at 806/352, right in that lively part of Dickson – you know, where you’ve got all those great Asian eateries and cafes just a short walk away, like down to the Dickson shops for some killer pho or a quick coffee at Two Before Ten. Stepping inside, it felt spacious and fresh, with that clean, almost new-apartment smell – think polished wooden floors underfoot and big windows letting in heaps of natural light. It’s rated as a 4-star spot, and yeah, it lives up to that with the plush bedding and a kitchen that’s actually stocked well enough to whip up a meal (fridge, microwave, even a dishwasher – no skimping there).
What really sold me, though, was the mountain view – I mean, you’re up high enough to catch glimpses of Black Mountain and the Brindabellas on a clear day, especially at sunset when the light turns everything golden. I spent one evening just lounging on the balcony with a glass of local wine (picked up from that little bottle shop on Woolley Street nearby), watching the city lights flicker on below. It’s not perfect – there’s some road noise from Northbourne if you leave the windows open, particularly in the mornings when the trams start running (they’re right outside, which is handy for getting to Civic without driving, but yeah, it can hum a bit). But the apartment’s got good insulation, and the AC drowns it out nicely. Inside, it’s got all the luxuries you’d want for a short stay: a comfy king bed that didn’t leave me with a sore back, a rain shower in the bathroom that felt like a spa treatment after hiking in Namadgi National Park (which is only about a 30-minute drive south, by the way – perfect for day trips). Parking was a breeze too; there’s secure underground spots, which is a godsend in Canberra where street parking can be a nightmare during events like Floriade in spring. Oh, and if you’re traveling with a partner or small group, the living area is roomy enough for chilling out – we even streamed movies on the smart TV without any glitches.
All in all, if you’re looking for a solid base in Canberra without breaking the bank – it’s got a 7.7 rating for a reason, sort of that sweet spot between fancy and functional – I’d say go for it. It’s not some over-the-top resort, but for exploring the capital, popping over to Braddon for brunch (try Grease Monkey for burgers, it’s walking distance), or just unwinding with those views, it hits the mark. Just book ahead in summer when the city’s packed with tourists; we got lucky with a quiet mid-week stay. Trust me, you’ll wake up feeling like you’ve got the best of both worlds – urban convenience and a touch of that Aussie mountain serenity. (Word count: 428)

Great position
Great viewsWhat should have been a pleasant stay was spoilt by poor cleaning. – Fiona from Australia – 14 May 2025 (4/10)
The location was reasonably near Dickson shopping centre>
The views were magnificent.
The apartment was fairly new and nicely laid out.
What could be improved: The apartment was very dirty. Parts of it hadn't seen a duster for many weeks.
The bedside table in the main bedroom had a drawer full of someone's underwear and most of the hanging space of the wardrobe was taken up by a large dirty vacuum cleaner.
A used bandage and a piece of broken glass were trodden on during the stay which just indicated poor cleaning practices.
There was a loose rug in the living room which was a dangerous slipping hazard for older people like myself.Exceptional – Dupinder from Australia – 9 June 2025 (10/10)
