Hotel Description
Oh man, if you’re heading to Canberra and want something that feels more like a chic home base than a stuffy hotel room, you have to check out the Midnight Luxe apartment on the fourth floor of that building on Elouera Street in Braddon. I stayed there last winter – you know, when the city’s all crisp and foggy in the mornings – and honestly, it was one of those spots that just clicks right away. Pulling up, I was relieved to find the secure parking garage; parking in Braddon can be a nightmare, especially on weekends when everyone’s flooding in from Civic for brunch at those trendy spots on Lonsdale Street. The check-in was super low-key – no front desk drama, just a code for the door and a welcome pack with a bottle of local wine (from the Canberra region, naturally – think a smooth Shiraz that pairs perfectly with takeout from the Italian joint downstairs). Walking in, the place smelled faintly of fresh linen and eucalyptus, like they’d just aired it out, and the living room opened up to these killer views over the rooftops toward Mount Ainslie. It’s a two-bedroom, two-bath setup, so plenty of space if you’re traveling with a couple of friends or the family – I mean, I was solo, but I sprawled out like I owned the joint.
What really sold me, though, was how it nailed that balance of luxury without feeling over-the-top. The kitchen’s fully kitted out – granite counters, a proper oven, even a Nespresso machine for that morning caffeine hit – and I whipped up a quick brekkie using stuff from the farmers’ market at EPIC, which is just a short drive away. The bedrooms are comfy as hell, with those plush king beds and blackout curtains that actually work, blocking out the early sunrises we get here in summer. Oh, and the pool and sauna downstairs? Total game-changer after a day wandering around Lake Burley Griffin or hitting up the National Gallery (it’s only about a 10-minute walk to the lake from here, by the way). I popped into the sauna one evening – steamy and relaxing, though it can get a bit crowded if there’s a conference in town, you know? The WiFi was rock-solid too, which mattered for me since I had to hop on a few work calls; no lag, even streaming Netflix in the evenings. And those fourth-floor views? At dusk, with the city lights flickering on, it’s magical – sort of makes you forget you’re in the middle of a bustling suburb full of craft breweries and hip cafes. One minor gripe: the building’s elevators can be slow during peak hours, but hey, it’s a small price for being smack in the heart of Braddon’s vibe.
All in all, if you’re after a 4-star spot with a 9.5 rating that actually lives up to the hype, this is it – especially for longer stays where you want to feel settled. It’s not the cheapest, but for what you get – the privacy, the amenities, that effortless access to places like the Canberra Centre for shopping or a quick Uber to Parliament House – it’s worth every penny. I’d go back in a heartbeat, maybe in spring when the cherry blossoms are out. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.

What could be improved: N/APerfect get away!! – John from Australia – 19 May 2025 (9/10)
The location was perfect. The apartment was very comfortable and extremely well stocked with utensils and some dining essentials. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable.
What could be improved: The carpark. We were in a large vehicle and it was very challenging navigating down and up the ramps. Stupid design to be honest. Also car parks themselves aren’t sequentially numbered for some very strange reason. The guidance from the apartment management team (Tracy), was very clear and accurate thankfully.Nice neat and clean – Amy from Australia – 28 April 2025 (10/10)
It was so easy to collect keys and straight into the property with no hassle
