Hotel Description
You know, when I first pulled up to this new 4-bedroom city home in Canberra’s inner north – right in the 2602 postcode, tucked away in a leafy spot near Ainslie, actually – I was already half in love with it. I’d driven down from Sydney, dodging those endless roadworks on the Hume, and honestly, finding a place with its own Tesla charger was a godsend. No more hunting for public stations in the city center, especially with Canberra’s winters getting so nippy – you plug in, and it’s ready by morning. The house itself? It’s one of those modern builds that feels like a proper home, not some sterile hotel room. Walking in, there’s this fresh, woody scent from the timber floors (eucalyptus, I think?), and the open-plan living area just begs you to kick off your shoes and sprawl out. Check-in was a breeze – hosted by CanStay, so it’s all self-service with a code, no awkward front desk chit-chat, but they left a welcome note with tips on the best local coffee spots, like that hidden gem in Dickson just a five-minute walk away.
What really sets this place apart, though – and I mean this as someone who’s stayed in a bunch of Canberra spots over the years – is how it nails that balance between city buzz and quiet retreat. The four bedrooms are spacious, with those super-comfy queen beds that actually let you sleep through the night (no lumpy mattresses here, thank goodness), and the master has this en-suite with rainfall showers that make you feel like you’re in a spa. We cooked up a storm in the full kitchen – stocked with basics, mind you – and the backyard patio was perfect for evening barbecues, listening to the magpies warble without the hum of traffic. It’s a short drive to Lake Burley Griffin for those sunrise walks, or hop over to Parliament House if you’re into the political scene, but come peak tourist season in summer, when Floriade’s on, it gets busy downtown – this spot’s far enough out to avoid the chaos, yet close enough for an easy Uber. Oh, and parking? Ample space in the driveway, which is rare in these parts where streets fill up fast. That said, if you’re a light sleeper, the occasional plane from the nearby airport might nudge you awake early – nothing major, but worth noting.
All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra for work, a family trip, or just to escape the coast, this place is a solid 9.8 in my book – yeah, it earns those stars. It’s not the cheapest option out there (we’re talking around $300 a night off-peak), but for the space, the charger, and that genuine homey vibe, it’s worth every cent. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in autumn when the leaves turn and the air’s crisp – just pack layers, ’cause nights can drop quick. You won’t regret it, trust me.

Excellent house, just needs the air con vents to be cleaned and it would have been perfect. – Hollingsworth from Australia – 29 January 2025 (9/10)
The house was excellent with great amenities.
What could be improved: The air conditioning vents need to be cleaned, a lot of dust was in the air when it was on and it caused some health issues. There were 2 small wasp nests at the front door and the outdoor kitchenette's doors had been removed. But the house itself was excellent.Exceptional – Ian from Australia – 6 June 2025 (10/10)
