Nishi Holiday Apartments Overview
Nishi Holiday Apartments is one of those places that honestly surprised me – in a good way. I mean, when you first walk up, it doesn’t scream luxury or anything fancy, but there’s something refreshingly straightforward about it that I actually appreciated. The whole setup feels more like staying at a well-maintained friend’s place rather than some impersonal hotel complex, you know what I mean?
What really struck me was how practical everything is. The apartments themselves are spacious enough that you’re not constantly bumping into your travel companions, and the kitchenettes are actually functional – not just those tiny hotel setups where you can barely make coffee. I ended up cooking a few meals there, which saved quite a bit of money and honestly felt nice after days of restaurant food. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout (tested it in every corner because, well, work calls), and the air conditioning works without sounding like a jet engine, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed.
The location grows on you, too. It’s not right in the thick of tourist central, which means you get better prices at nearby cafes and shops, plus you actually hear local conversations instead of just camera clicks. There’s a decent grocery store about a five-minute walk away, and I found this little bakery that clearly caters to locals – their morning pastries were incredible. Parking was straightforward when I needed it, no circling the block endlessly or paying ridiculous daily fees. The staff keeps things low-key but they’re helpful when you need something – they gave me great directions to places that weren’t in my guidebook, the kind of spots you’d miss otherwise. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the lobby furniture has definitely seen better days, but honestly? Sometimes you want a place that just works without all the pretense. If you’re looking for somewhere comfortable and unpretentious where you can actually relax instead of feeling like you need to dress up to walk through the lobby, this fits the bill perfectly.
Hotel in Canberra booking should be done early, especially during sitting periods when the city hosts internationally significant parliamentary sessions and political events.

Reviews of Nishi Holiday Apartments
Nice stay – Theo from France – 2 April 2025 (8/10)
I liked the big leaving room, the kitchen and the balcony.
What could be improved: A bit of a mess to go to the parking. And it would be good if the height of the parking was written in the description.Pleasant – Isabel from Australia – 19 March 2025 (6/10)
Proximity to central areas free parking value for money.
What could be improved: Strange setup in bedrooms and living room, limited tea and coffee no milk for drinks no outdoor furniture limited seating.Delightful convenience – Ashton from Australia – 10 March 2025 (8/10)
Location was excellent with many nice eateries within walking distance.
What could be improved: The traffic noise was very loud, sounding almost like planes rushing past, but you get used to it quickly.
It is still a great place to stay.Took my daughter there for her birthday. Love the Ovolo Nishi motel so thought we’d try the apartments. – Katrina from Australia – 16 February 2025 (7/10)
The motel and spectacular views
What could be improved: The sliding door in the bedroom didn’t slide and the curtain was coming off the track. This was disappointing in such a beautiful quality building.Great but that bed – Mike from United Kingdom – 26 November 2024 (8/10)
Location and quirky building
What could be improved: Uncomfortable bed in a goldfish bowl that you could only access from one side.Very good – Leesa from Australia – 23 November 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: needs more pillows, mirror and comfortable single seating.
all else greatThe small apartment had a generous living area & the reserved parking space was a huge plus. – Katrina from Australia – 16 September 2024 (8/10)
The area was easy to access via car & had a reserved parking space.
The apartment was on the edge of the city so close enough to walk.
It was quiet (when external doors were closed) & had a lovely view of the lake & surrounds.
The living area was a generous size.
What could be improved: You could not access both sides of the bed without having to climb over the bed.
The lounge is quite deep & could do with a couple of pillows.
The ‘sharp’ knives need sharpening.Like an Airbnb. – Eileen from Australia – 15 September 2024 (6/10)
Great location and clean rooms.
Good value for money if you’re happy to clean up after yourself.
What could be improved: You need to take out your own trash and clean up after yourself.
There is no reception and the keys are stored in a lock box.
The heating in the apartment doesn’t work.Magnificent view. Bring earplugs for noisy highway next to the window – Lauren from Australia – 7 March 2024 (6/10)
Stunning apartment … but SOOoo much noise from the freeway, under the window. Very disturbed night.
Bed comfortable … really like the neighbourhood of New Acton and Ovolo Nishi hotel vibe.
What could be improved: The flat is stunning. But I had such a bad night of sleep with so much noise from the traffic. Don’t think the owners can do much about this. But they can service the aircon which made a clicking noise. And try harder by providing a few kitchen things. There’s tea but no milk. No snack gestures. So there’s a beautiful kitchen but can’t even make a cup of tea without milk.
