I’ll be honest – when I first booked the Parliamentary Triangle 1BR Apartment – Hosted by CanStay, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from a CanStay property. But honestly? This place completely surprised me in the best way possible.

Step outside and you’re surrounded by some of the country’s most iconic buildings – Parliament House sits there majestically on Capital Hill, the National Gallery is practically next door, and you can actually walk to Lake Burley Griffin in about ten minutes. What I love about staying here is that you get this insider’s view of how the city actually works. Early mornings, you’ll see staffers grabbing coffee before heading to work, and there’s something oddly thrilling about being right where so many important decisions get made. The apartment itself feels like a proper home rather than a typical hotel room – the kitchen is actually functional (I made breakfast every morning), and the living space has this comfortable, lived-in feel that made me want to just settle in with a book after long days of exploring.

You know what really impressed me though? The attention to detail throughout the place. Everything from the linens to the coffee machine feels thoughtfully chosen, and the 9.3 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here. The bed is genuinely comfortable – I’m talking about that sweet spot where it’s firm enough to feel supportive but soft enough that you sink in just right. The bathroom has excellent water pressure, which might seem like a small thing until you’ve had a long day walking around the various museums and memorials. Parking was surprisingly straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around parliamentary areas knows can be a real headache. I actually found the evenings here quite peaceful – you’d think being so central would mean noise, but the area tends to quiet down once the government workers head home. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re looking for vibrant nightlife right outside your door, you’ll want to venture into other parts of the city. But honestly, that’s part of the charm – you get this serene, almost residential feel while being steps away from national treasures like the Australian War Memorial and the National Library. I ended up extending my stay an extra night because I realized I could easily spend hours just wandering between the various cultural institutions, then come back to what felt like my own little sanctuary in the political heart of the country.
