You know, I stumbled upon the Perfectly Located Modern Apartment in Canberra’s CBD during a quick work trip last spring, and honestly, it turned out to be one of those spots that just clicks for a city stay. It’s smack on 240 Bunda Street, right in the heart of Civic – that bustling area where everything feels alive but not overwhelmingly chaotic like Sydney or Melbourne. I remember pulling up in my rental car (parking’s a bit of a hunt, mind you, with those paid spots nearby, but there’s a secure underground option if you book ahead), and the building itself has this sleek, unpretentious vibe – all glass and clean lines, blending right in with the surrounding cafes and shops. Stepping inside, the check-in was a breeze; it’s more like an apartment setup, so they hand you a key card and you’re off – no fussing with a big hotel lobby, which I appreciated after a long drive from the airport. The place smells faintly of fresh linen and whatever coffee someone’s brewing in the kitchenette, and it’s got that cool, air-conditioned hush that blocks out the street noise below, even during peak hours when Bunda gets lively with after-work crowds heading to spots like Akiba for ramen or the Canberra Centre just a block away.

What really sold me was how modern and thoughtful the apartments are – mine was a one-bedroom with these huge floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the treetops toward Lake Burley Griffin (pro tip: request a higher floor for the best views, especially at sunset when the light hits the water just right). The bed was super comfy, like sinking into a cloud after traipsing around Parliament House all day – and speaking of which, it’s only a 15-minute walk or a quick Uber from there, making it perfect for sightseeing without the hassle of constant commuting. The kitchen’s fully equipped, with a proper oven and dishwasher, so I whipped up some brekkie using goodies from the nearby Coles supermarket; it’s great for longer stays or if you’re traveling with picky eaters (my mate’s kids loved it on their visit). Sure, it’s not a full-service hotel – no daily housekeeping unless you pay extra, and the Wi-Fi can lag a tad during evenings when everyone’s streaming – but that’s part of the charm, you know? It feels lived-in, with soft carpets underfoot and a balcony where you can sip a morning flat white while watching joggers loop around the lake paths. Oh, and if you’re there in winter, the heating kicks in nicely; Canberra gets chilly, but this place stays toasty without that dry, recycled air feel.

All in all, I’d rate it a solid 8.4 like the reviews say – it’s not flawless, but for a 4-star apartment in the CBD, it’s spot-on for business travelers, families, or anyone wanting to feel like a local without breaking the bank. If you’re heading to Canberra for the Floriade festival in September (when the tulips explode in color), book early; the area buzzes but this spot keeps things calm. Well, I mean, if you want that mix of convenience and comfort without the sterile hotel chain vibe, this is it – I left thinking I’d happily crash there again next time I’m in town.

  Location was superb and the apartment was very clean and comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: Some small items in the kitchen such as paper towels and a better absorbent sponge would help. It would be easier to clean the place with these items. A box of tissues would also be good to have. Some bedside lamps are also needed.

  Nicely styled 90s decor, clean and comfortable all except the mattress.
  
  What could be improved: The bed mattress is very uncomfortable needs to be replaced. It is hard with no softness and has body depressions in it.
  The bedroom balcony door also whistles air when the wind blows in that direction, along with the traffic noise.
  Cars with loud mufflers woke us numerous times during our 2 nights.
  The checkin and checkout was problematic!
  The keys are collected offsite. Not from a “real estate’ but from a container covered in plastic ivy behind the car wash.

  Loved the location in the centre of Canberra, perfect for restaurants, bars and shopping.
  The apartment was comfortable and had everything needed.
  It was beautifully clean.
  Great that it had a car park though it was difficult to find once in the garage
  
  What could be improved: On the Friday night it was extremely noisy from souped up cars and motor cycles.
  I should have reported that the vanity basin in the bathroom did not drain well.

  Beautiful apartment – loved the location, undercover parking, apartment layout, big bedroom with balcony access, gym, swimming pool, speedy response from owners to my questions.
  
  What could be improved: The key Dropbox thing – we didn’t realise you could park next to it down the lane way and circled the block several times trying to find a park. Having said that, the instructions and photos were spot on and hugely helpful!
  Booking.com description needs to be changed to something you can tell an Uber driver – like Manhattan Apartments (North Tower).

  Building and its location were excellent. The apartment was spacious and extremely well appointed.
  
  So many great restaurants in the near vicinity.
  
  Very comprehensive instructions were provided regarding picking up keys and accessing the building.

  What could be improved: The quality of the pillows could be improved, they did not offer my support.
  
  It was a bit difficult to find the location where we needed to pick up the keys. Google Maps took us about a km from where we needed to be.
  
  It was initially a bit difficult to locate the building as Google Maps was not very precise. We were provided with a picture of the building which was taken from the park and the entrance of the building was less obvious from the road when driving, particularly at dusk.
