Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Pinnacle Apartments last time I was in Canberra, and honestly, it was one of those finds that just makes the whole trip feel easier. I drove in from Sydney – yeah, that long haul down the Hume – and pulled up to 11 Ovens Street in Kingston right around dusk. Kingston’s this cool, leafy suburb south of the lake, not too far from the Parliamentary Triangle, so you’re basically smack in the middle of things without the chaos of the city center. The building itself looks modern but not flashy, kind of blends in with the trendy apartments around it. Check-in was a breeze; the staff were super laid-back, handed over the keys with a quick chat about where to grab a decent flat white nearby – turns out there’s this spot called Local Press on Kennedy Street, just a five-minute stroll away, and their avocado toast is legit. I mean, after hours on the road, that little tip felt like gold. Parking’s undercover and secure, which is a relief in Canberra where street spots can vanish during events like Floriade in spring, but fair warning, it gets tight if you’re there on a weekend when everyone’s hitting the markets.
What really sold me on the place was how it felt like a home base rather than just a hotel room – these are proper apartments, you know? Mine was a one-bedroom with a full kitchen (hello, proper fridge and dishwasher), and the balcony overlooked some quiet gardens that muffled the hum from nearby Manuka Oval. It’s got that 4-star polish without being stuffy: plush bedding that actually lets you sleep through the night, even if there’s a bit of early-morning traffic noise from Ovens Street filtering in – nothing earplugs couldn’t handle, though. I loved wandering out in the evenings; you’re steps from the Kingston Foreshore, where the lake breeze carries that fresh, eucalyptus scent, and there are heaps of eateries like Brodburger for a quick bite. It’s rated 8.8 for a reason – the Wi-Fi’s speedy (crucial for remote work calls), and the gym’s small but functional, with views that make treadmill time bearable. Oh, and if you’re into cycling, they have bike storage; I rented one and pedaled over to the National Gallery in like 15 minutes. Sort of wish the pool was bigger – it’s more of a plunge than a lap setup – but in Canberra’s crisp winters, you’re probably not swimming much anyway.
All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra for work or a quick getaway, Pinnacle’s a smart pick. It’s not the cheapest spot around (expect to pay a premium during parliamentary sitting weeks when everything books up), but you get that independent vibe with serviced perks, like daily housekeeping that doesn’t feel intrusive. I’ve stayed in fancier places downtown that left me feeling isolated, but here? You step out and you’re part of the neighborhood – grabbing craft beer at Capital Brewing or just chilling by the lake. Honestly, it made me want to extend my trip; next time, I’m booking a longer stay to really explore those walking trails around Burley Griffin. If you’re after comfort with a local feel, this one’s a winner – just pack light, as the elevators can be a tad slow during peak check-out.

Great location. Close to everything. The heater was turned on for us so when we arrived it was lovely and warm inside. There was plenty of space in the apartment for our family of 5. We had made a last minute booking and were treated so well. Would love to stay here again.

We were a party of 6 adults and 1 child. The bedrooms and bedding arrangements were great. The kitchen was well provisioned with utensils, cookware and crockery. The location was convenient for the places we wanted to visit.
What could be improved: There were 2 mugs with large chips in the rims. When I raised this as a problem, I was told that they would be replaced by housekeeping, but they weren’t. I had to follow up with Reception to get replacements. The EV charger did not work.Great apartment! Everything provided. Staff were lovely and helpful! – Wishaw from Australia – 9 July 2025 (9/10)
