I mean, if you’re into politics or history, Parliament House is basically a 10-minute walk away, which is perfect for dodging the tourist buses that clog up the roads during session times. My room on the higher floor overlooked the circuit, and let me tell you, the views of the city lights at night were killer, especially with a glass of local shiraz from the minibar (overpriced, sure, but worth it after a day exploring). The bed was plush, like sinking into a cloud, and the bathroom had these rain showers that actually worked – no dribbly nonsense here. Food-wise, the onsite Italian joint, Capitol Bar & Grill, serves up solid pasta – I had a truffle risotto that was spot-on – and the rooftop bar is a gem for sunset drinks, though it gets packed on weekends with after-work crowds from the nearby offices. Oh, and parking? It’s valet, which is handy in this tight urban spot, but expect to shell out a bit extra; street parking’s a nightmare during peak hours. Noise levels were decent – a bit of traffic hum in the evenings, but nothing that kept me up, especially since Canberra quiets down after dark compared to bigger cities.

All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra for a mix of culture and chill – say, during the Floriade festival in spring when the city’s blooming like crazy – QT’s a solid pick at that 4.5-star level. It’s not flawless; the Wi-Fi dipped a couple times, and breakfast isn’t included unless you splurge, but for a 7.6 rating, it punches above its weight with personality. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially if you’re traveling solo or with a partner who appreciates a bit of edge over bland luxury.
