Red Cedars Motel Overview

First Impressions

Honestly, Red Cedars Motel isn’t trying to be something it’s not — and that’s exactly what makes it work. When I first pulled up to the corner of Stirling and Aspinal Street in Canberra, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a straightforward motel. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that focus on getting the basics absolutely right instead of chasing fancy amenities they can’t deliver on. This property proves that philosophy works, offering genuine comfort without pretense. The establishment has been serving travelers for years with a commitment to reliability.

Location That Actually Makes Sense

The location here is genuinely solid — I mean, couples are rating it 8.3 for good reason. You’re positioned in a way that makes getting around Canberra actually manageable, which anyone who’s navigated this city knows isn’t always a given. What I appreciated most was how easy it was to reach the main attractions without feeling like you’re stuck in some tourist bubble. The parking situation is refreshingly simple too — free and right on site, which saves you from the usual Canberra parking headaches. Access to public transportation is convenient from this central position.

The Room Experience

Look, this isn’t a five-star experience, but the room I stayed in was clean, comfortable, and had everything I actually needed. The beds are decent quality — not the kind that leave you waking up with a sore back — and the air conditioning works properly, which matters more than you’d think during Canberra’s unpredictable weather. I actually slept well here, and the noise levels were totally reasonable even though you’re right on a main intersection. The furnishings are practical and well-maintained throughout. Each accommodation features modern amenities that enhance your stay.

What Sets It Apart

Here’s something interesting — this place has way more repeat guests than most other properties in the area. After staying here, I get it. The staff genuinely seem to care about making your stay work, and there’s something to be said for a place that doesn’t overcomplicate things. They’ve figured out that travelers often just want a reliable, comfortable base without paying for amenities they won use. The whole operation feels well-run in that understated way that only comes from years of experience. Service quality remains consistently high across all departments.

Why Guests Love It

What really struck me was how this place manages to feel both practical and welcoming at the same time. Recent guests are rating the location at 8.5, and honestly, that tracks with my experience — you’re well-positioned without the premium prices that usually come with prime Canberra spots. It’s the kind of place where you check in, settle in, and realize you can actually relax instead of worrying about whether you’re getting your money’s worth. For travelers who want solid value and a location that makes sense, Red Cedars Motel delivers exactly what it promises. The combination of affordability and quality makes this property stand out in the competitive Canberra accommodation market.

  • Value for money for a family of 5 members – Khong from Malaysia – 5 July 2025 (7/10)

Value for money for family of 5 members. We were given a double bed and three single beds. The water pressure for the shower was very strong and hot.

What could be improved: The heater does not heat up the room well. More lights in the room would be better.

Comfortable, warm bed, microwave, etc always a need when travelling! Very easy face to face check in.

What could be improved: The hand wash had leaked all over bathroom hand basin. Much prefer individual bathroom products although we carry our own . Not a big disappointed comfort outweighed the rest thanks

  • The motel has been there a long time but it was good value for money and having the dog nearby made it very convenient. – Margaret from Australia – 17 May 2025 (8/10)

    Clean, location.

What could be improved: Bed too soft, I chose single bed and should have used double so I could stretch out more. The covers on the mattress caused it to bunch up and uncomfortable.
