Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon the Stylish Central Lake View Apartment during a quick getaway to Canberra last spring, and honestly, it was one of those finds that just clicks – especially if you’re not into the stuffy hotel vibe. Pulling up to 25 Edinburgh Avenue, right there in the heart of Acton, I was relieved to snag that free parking spot they promise; it’s a godsend in this part of town where meters can eat your wallet alive, and with all the government buildings nearby, traffic can get a bit nuts during rush hour. Check-in was a breeze – no front desk drama, just a key code they emailed ahead, which felt modern and low-key. Stepping inside, the place hit me with this fresh, airy feel, like someone’s stylish city pad rather than a generic rental. The lake views? Oh man, they’re legit – floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Lake Burley Griffin, with that shimmering water catching the afternoon light. I mean, I spent my first evening just lounging on the balcony, sipping a coffee, watching rowers glide by while the scent of eucalyptus from the nearby parks drifted in. It’s not huge, but the layout’s smart – a cozy living area with plush couches that actually feel lived-in, a kitchenette stocked with basics (though the coffee machine could use a better filter, if I’m nitpicking), and a bedroom that’s quiet enough for a solid night’s sleep, even with the occasional hum of cars on Commonwealth Avenue below.
What really sold me, though, was how it puts you smack in the middle of Canberra’s cool side without the hassle. You’re a short stroll from the National Museum – I wandered over one morning and caught this exhibit on Indigenous art that blew my mind – or you can hop across to NewActon for brunch at places like Monster Kitchen on Bunda Street, where the avo toast is next-level. And let’s talk practicalities: the apartment’s got that 4-star polish with crisp linens, fast Wi-Fi (crucial for remote work calls), and a washer-dryer combo that saved me after a muddy hike around Mount Ainslie. It’s sort of got this understated elegance – think sleek wooden floors that creak just a little underfoot, adding character, and bathroom tiles that stay cool even in Canberra’s surprisingly humid summers. Noise-wise, it’s pretty peaceful at night, though if you’re a light sleeper, the early birds on the lake might wake you with their chatter come dawn. I visited in April, when the autumn leaves turn everything golden, and it wasn’t too crowded – avoid peak summer if you hate the heat, but spring or fall? Perfect for exploring without the tourist swarm.
All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra for a mix of culture, nature, and downtime – maybe catching a show at the Canberra Theatre or just chilling by the lake – this spot’s a winner with its 9.1 rating feeling spot-on. It’s not flawless (the AC can be a tad finicky), but it delivers that home-away-from-home comfort with killer views and zero parking stress. I’d go back in a heartbeat – heck, book it for a weekend and thank me later.

One of (if not the) best equipped apartments I have ever stayed in. Sylvia, the host has added a personal touch to make guests feel at home. Worked for me. Fabulous view of lake Burley Griffen, Parliament House and National Museum. Close to ANU, The Shine Dome, National Film and Sound Archive. Comfortable bed, excellent shower and more than adequate space to 1 or 2 people. Some good restaurants nearby. Excellent value for money.
What could be improved: The Nishi Building is spectacular architecture but can be confusing so make sure you pay close attention to entry and key collection instructions. If lost there seems to be plenty of people around who are happy to point you in the right direction. The balcony is a bit noisy at certain times of day due to road works and traffic but this shouldn't be a major problem in the evenings.Nice, compact apartment with lake view. – Geoff from Australia – 31 March 2025 (9/10)
Well equipped, nicely furnished. Host was fantastic.
Excellent property in great location – Melissa from Australia – 26 March 2025 (9/10)
Ideal location to visit our daughter at ANU. Clean, comfortable with everything you could want. Very clear and easy to follow instructions to access parking and property. Will definitely stay again.
What could be improved: Parking is most suited to a small car. Road outside is too noisy to be able to enjoy the balcony. The unit is exceptionally neat and clean, and the property manager is kind and accommodating. – Fenny from United States – 20 March 2025 (10/10)
The lake view is beautiful

The communication with the host was excellent and most welcoming.
What could be improved: There wasn't anything that we didn't like.
The apartment was a bit small for travellers with big bags.
