Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Sweet Holiday Home by the Golf Course during a quick getaway to Canberra last spring, and honestly, it was one of those spots that just clicks – like, you pull up to 4A Westbury Circuit in Nicholls, and it’s tucked away in this leafy suburb that’s all about that quiet, green vibe. Nicholls isn’t the flashy part of town; it’s more like where locals escape the city buzz, right near the Gungahlin Lakes Golf Course – I mean, if you’re into golf, you can practically roll out of bed and onto the fairway. The place is a solid 4-star setup, and with that 9.1 rating, it lives up to the hype without trying too hard. I drove in from the airport – it’s about a 20-minute haul up the Barton Highway, easy enough even if you’re jet-lagged – and parking was a breeze, plenty of spots right out front, no fighting for space like in the city center. Check-in was super low-key; the host greeted me with a fresh pot of coffee brewing in the kitchen, and that smell of eucalyptus from the nearby trees just sort of seeped in through the open windows. It’s not a massive hotel, more like a cozy holiday home with a few rooms, so it feels personal – almost like staying at a friend’s place, but with way better linens.
What really sold me was how it balances that homey feel with some thoughtful touches that make traveling easier. The rooms are spacious, with these big windows overlooking the golf course – I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and maybe a distant “fore!” from early-bird golfers, which was kind of charming, you know? No traffic noise at all, since Westbury Circuit is this quiet loop off the main drags; it’s peaceful, especially in the evenings when the sun sets over the Brindabellas in the distance (that’s those hazy mountains you see from pretty much everywhere in Canberra). I appreciated the kitchenette – stocked with basics like tea, coffee, and even some local snacks from the Gungahlin markets – perfect for whipping up breakfast before heading out. We walked to Federation Square for dinner one night; it’s just a 10-minute stroll, with spots like that little Italian joint serving wood-fired pizzas that rival anything in Braddon. Oh, and the beds? Super comfy, with those thick duvets that make you want to sleep in – though, fair warning, the Wi-Fi can be a tad spotty during peak hours, like when everyone’s streaming after dinner. But hey, that’s minor; it forced me to unplug and actually enjoy the balcony views. In busier seasons, like summer when the golf tournaments roll in, it might get a bit more lively, but during my stay in October, it was blissfully quiet.
All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra for a relaxed trip – maybe mixing some sightseeing at Parliament House (about 25 minutes drive) with downtime – this place is a gem. It’s not over-the-top luxurious, but that’s what makes it authentic; you get that genuine Aussie suburb feel without the isolation. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially for the value – rates are reasonable, and it beats those sterile chain hotels downtown. Just pack your walking shoes for those golf course paths; trust me, the fresh air and kangaroo sightings (yeah, they hop around sometimes) are worth it.

Looked forward to arriving knowing this unit would be so clean & welcoming- yes very happy – Jex from Australia – 4 July 2025 (10/10)
This is one of the loveliest units we stay in. Its very clean, beds are so comfy and the linen is so fresh & clean. Bathroom towels are good quality. The unit warms up very quickly in winter. Couch is comfortable, Tv is great. Plenty of supply of personal needs in bathroom, although the bath tub has been removed which is a shame as it would just finish the bathroom off beautifully. Kitchen has good supply for short stay. Parking is outside but in private driveway, no garage or carport available. You feel at home in this place. Love the slate flooring. Very easy entry to the property, don't have to worry about id photos or licenses being taken, that's a bonus when travelling. Absolutely wonderful area to stay in, The neighborhood is quiet & has great walking paths around a lake with golf course close by. Plenty of bird-life. This was our second visit & we plan to keep this unit as our number one place to stay when in Canberra. Thankyou to our host, you are exceptionally good at what you do. We'll be returning.
What could be improved: The only thought is that there's a single bed set up in the lounge room which spoils the look of the room, maybe a fold up bed in storage would work better when needed.
Lots of travelers enjoy a restful hot bath, it would be nice to see a bath tub replaced in the bathroom.
It was very cold when we stayed and a couple of warmer blankets for the beds would have been appreciated.Sweet Holiday Home-Canberra – Barrett from Australia – 30 June 2025 (10/10)
We had everything we needed for our stay. It was close to facilities and a great price
What could be improved: If I had to pick on one thing, it would be that the mattress in the bigger bedroom was too hard. But that's honestly the only thing I could pick onFantastic – 026nails4u from Australia – 12 May 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: Needed overhead fans in bedroomsVery good – Kylee from Australia – 27 September 2024 (8/10)
All of the property – it's wonderful.
What could be improved: There's currently construction across the road, which started early and was a little noisy during the day while I was working. But I'm sure this is temporary only.Excellent – Norma from Australia – 26 September 2024 (10/10)
