The Sebel Canberra Campbell Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The Sebel Canberra Campbell, you immediately get that feeling of understated sophistication — it’s not trying too hard, but everything just feels right. The lobby has this clean, contemporary vibe that somehow manages to be both professional and welcoming. I mean, you can tell this is a four-star property without anyone having to spell it out for you. The staff actually seem to know what they’re doing, which honestly isn’t always a given in Canberra. The overall atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between modern design and genuine hospitality.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about Campbell — it’s one of those Canberra suburbs that locals know is perfectly positioned, but tourists often overlook. You’re literally minutes from the Parliamentary Triangle and Lake Burley Griffin, but you’re not stuck in the touristy chaos of the city center. The parking situation alone makes this place worth considering (and it’s private, which is a huge plus). Couples seem to absolutely love this spot — I can see why, since you can actually walk to decent dinner spots without needing to drive everywhere. The neighborhood offers an ideal blend of accessibility and peaceful retreat.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was spacious in that particular way that makes you realize how cramped most hotel rooms actually are. Everything felt thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together — the lighting actually works for reading, the desk is big enough to spread out your laptop, and the bed is genuinely comfortable. You know what I appreciated? The little details, like having enough power outlets and a proper coffee setup that doesn’t require an engineering degree to operate. The furnishings and layout demonstrate careful attention to guest comfort and functionality.
Dining & Amenities
The on-site restaurant serves up solid modern Australian fare — nothing groundbreaking, but well-executed and reasonably priced for what you get. I actually ended up eating there twice during my stay, which says something since I usually prefer to explore local spots. The breakfast spread is comprehensive without being overwhelming, and they do a proper flat white, which matters more than you might think in Australia. The culinary offerings reflect quality preparation and genuine care for guest satisfaction.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it strikes that perfect balance between being professional enough for business travelers but relaxed enough that you don’t feel like you’re staying in a corporate box. The location consistently gets rave reviews because it genuinely is that good — close enough to everything important, but far enough from the government district that you’re not dealing with constant official traffic. It’s the kind of place where everything just works smoothly, from check-in to check-out, without any of those little frustrations that can derail a trip. This property truly understands what modern travelers need and expect.

Reviews of The Sebel Canberra Campbell
visiting friends who live close by – excellent for us. Pretty location in summer and for tourists – Ray from Australia – 8 July 2025 (9/10)
Had breakfast at local cafe – very local – very good.
What could be improved: Bathroom in reception area might be usefulPerfect place to spend a long weekend in Canberra. – Tina from Australia – 20 June 2025 (8/10)
Quiet retreat in heart of Canberra. Great cafes nearby. Good in room facilities.
What could be improved: If you want to go into the Canberra “CBD” then it’s a short drive away.Very good – Jane from Australia – 20 June 2025 (8/10)
Very central. The room had everything we needed
Would definitely stay again – highly recomment – Elizabeth from Australia – 11 June 2025 (9/10)
Location was excellent – dog friendly rooms were small but comfortable. Bathroom very clean. Kitchen well equipped
What could be improved: Thought the king bed was way too big for the room. A queen would have been plenty big enough and allow more room to get around. Also couldn' open the window as all locked – small thing but some fresh air would have been nice
'Location Plus & Excellent Room Facilities – Kym from Australia – 9 June 2025 (9/10)
Great Location only about 10 minutes walk to the amazing Australian War Memorial & 10 minutes drive to CBD & awesome Parliament House;
Only a very short walk to wonderful dining options with delish food that’s aesthetically presented ie Asian Noodle House & Maji Japanese Cuisine;
Really well equipped hotel room including microwave & washing machine; also tissues that a number of places don’t provide anymore;
Heating & hot shower that both work extremely well.
What could be improved: The only thing is that they didn’t have any chairs on the balcony for use of the balcony & you had to take the chairs from inside. It seems to be quite common that chairs are no longer provided on balconies. What’s the point of paying more money for a balcony if you can’t use it. Taking chairs from inside is often not a good idea as they are bulky & heavy and not designed for outdoor weather.The Sebel Canberra is one of our preferred places to stay when we visit the city. – Judith from Australia – 28 May 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Location was okComfortable, cosy and affordable accomodation – Stuart from Australia – 24 May 2025 (9/10)
The location was excellent. The room was exceptionally well appointed. Pretty much as self contained studio apartment. Nothing to complain about at all. Friendly, efficient staff too.
Easy to get around with simple access to eScooters etc
What could be improved: Not much to complain about. The only thing I can think of is that I didn't have an ironing board in my room but the bed worked fine for this…Very good – Virginia from Australia – 19 May 2025 (8/10)
New property with comfy bed and modern furnishings. Ability to cast from mobile phone to TV.
What could be improved: No breakfast or restaurant available onsiteGreat location. Clean and comfortable stay – Sara from Australia – 28 April 2025 (9/10)
