Hotel Description
You know, when I first pulled up to this Tranquil 2BR Home in Garran – that’s postcode 2602, tucked away in one of Canberra’s quieter suburbs – I was honestly relieved after that long drive from Sydney. It’s hosted by Canstay, and let me tell you, the check-in was a breeze; they use this keyless entry system with a code sent via app, so no fumbling around waiting for someone if you arrive late. The place is on a leafy street off Hindmarsh Drive, super easy to find but far enough from the main roads that you don’t get that constant hum of traffic – well, except maybe during rush hour, but even then, it’s not bad. I parked right out front without any hassle; there’s street parking aplenty, though I’d snag a spot early if you’re here in peak tourist season, like summer when everyone’s flocking to the lake.
Stepping inside, it really lives up to that “tranquil” name – the living room has these big windows letting in soft afternoon light, and the whole setup feels like a cozy family home rather than some sterile rental. Two bedrooms, both with queen beds that are actually comfortable (no lumpy mattresses here, thank goodness), and a kitchen stocked with basics like coffee pods and a decent fridge – I whipped up a quick brekkie without issue. The bathroom’s modern, with good water pressure in the shower, which is a godsend after a day exploring. It’s near Lovers Lock, you know, that sweet little spot by the lake where couples hang padlocks – it’s just a short walk or drive over to Lake Burley Griffin, maybe 10 minutes, and from there you can stroll to the Kingston foreshore shops for some great cafes and boutiques. I mean, grabbing a flat white at one of those indie spots and wandering back felt like the perfect low-key afternoon. Oh, and if you’re into politics or history, Parliament House is only about a 15-minute drive – but honestly, the real charm is how peaceful it is at night; no rowdy neighbors, just the occasional rustle of eucalyptus leaves outside. That said, the Wi-Fi can be a tad spotty during evenings when everyone’s streaming, so if you’re working remotely, test it out first.
All in all, I’d totally recommend this place if you’re visiting Canberra for a relaxed getaway – it’s got that 4-star vibe with an 8.8 rating that feels spot-on, not overhyped. Families or couples would love it; there’s space to spread out without feeling crammed, and it’s way more affordable than those flashy hotels in the city center. Sure, it could use a few more throw pillows or something to jazz up the decor – it’s functional but not super stylish – but that didn’t bother me much. If you’re after a home base that’s close to the action (think easy access to Manuka Oval for events or the National Gallery) yet lets you unwind properly, this is it. I left feeling refreshed, and isn’t that what a trip’s all about?

Reviews
An excellent spot to stay in Canberra, with the space and facilities of home. Ideal for two couples. – Thornton-smith from Australia – 1 July 2025 (9/10)
it was a very attractive quiet location, right next to Mt Ainslie bushland and also close to the big sights of Canberra,
What could be improved: It was a bit hard to regulate the heater, but great to have strong heating in a freezing Canberra winter. The driveway was narrow and winding, and difficult to reverse out of at night.Exceptional – Psalm610 from Australia – 26 May 2025 (10/10)

The little damages and the roof crack and the door not closing properly my my truly indeed felt like my home felt normal to be staying here.
What could be improved: Lmao, okay, there were these 2 cats, so cute fat and fluffy, 1 white and 1 grey. Oh my, they were fighting at the back yard 😅 causing a scene at around 8pm they was full on going at it. I was letting them talk it out, but then the grey 1 started going at it with the white 1. I had to jump in and separate them.Happy – Ann from Australia – 28 November 2024 (9/10)
