You know, when I first pulled up to Tuggeranong Short Stay #07C on Anketell Street in Canberra’s south – that’s right in the heart of Tuggeranong, just across from the Hyperdome shopping center – I was honestly relieved after that drive from the city center. It’s about 20 minutes out from Parliament House if traffic’s light, but man, it’s a world away from the hustle of Civic. The building, Four Seasons House, looks pretty unassuming from the outside – your typical modern apartment block with that clean, glassy facade – but parking was a breeze; there’s secure spots underground, which is a godsend in winter when those Canberra frosts hit hard. Check-in was self-service with a key code they email you, super straightforward, though I did fumble it a bit because my phone signal dipped (pro tip: download the instructions beforehand if you’re coming from interstate). Stepping into apartment 7 on level 2, it felt instantly homey – not flashy, but spacious enough for a group, sleeps six comfortably with two bedrooms and a sofa bed that doesn’t feel like a torture device.

What really sold me was how well set up it is for actual living, not just crashing. The kitchen’s got everything – full oven, microwave, even a dishwasher that hums quietly without waking the dead – and I whipped up a quick brekkie using stuff from the IGA downstairs. The place smells fresh, like they’ve just aired it out with those eucalyptus-scented cleaners Aussies love, and the balcony overlooks Anketell Street, which is lively during the day with folks heading to the lake for walks, but quiets down by evening. It’s not dead silent, mind you – you might hear the occasional car from the street below, especially on weekends when the markets are on at the Hyperdome – but nothing that kept me up. The beds are firm but comfy, with those thick duvets that make you want to burrow in during Canberra’s chilly nights (I mean, pack layers if you’re visiting in July). There’s decent Wi-Fi for streaming, and the bathroom’s got a proper shower with good pressure – no dribbles here. Oh, and it’s got a washer-dryer combo, which saved me after a muddy hike out at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, about 15 minutes drive away. Honestly, for a 4-star spot with an 8.7 rating, it’s spot on; not luxury, but practical and clean, with little touches like extra towels and a coffee machine that actually works.

All in all, if you’re traveling with family or mates and want to base yourself in Tuggeranong – say, for exploring Namadgi National Park or just chilling by Lake Tuggeranong without the central Canberra prices – this place is a solid pick. It’s great value, sleeps six without feeling cramped, and you’re steps from cafes like that great little Thai spot on Reed Street. Sure, it’s not right in the action if you’re all about museums and bars, but that’s the charm – quieter vibes, easier parking, and you can hop on the light rail to town if needed. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-peak when it’s even more peaceful.

    Friendly staff with warm welcome, close to everything you need, beautiful view, good smell in the room, quiet morning, quiet night easy sleep, have everything you in the room (just more than hotel) not even need to ask for more, nice and clean, neat and tidy, free internet, valuable for the money. My family so happy with staying, we definitely come again, highly recommended 👍🏻✨

    Close to where to go, very spacious and clean, plenty of room throughout the unit, easy access to the shops across the road, Norm makes sure you have everything that you need for your stay, the views of the lake from the balcony are amazing, although on a main road you don't hear any noise.

    What could be improved: That our stay was too short, could def stay longer if we didn't have to leave to go to work the next day 😞
