I remember stepping in and catching that fresh, clean linen smell mixed with a hint of whatever the neighbors were cooking downstairs—it sort of grounds you, reminds you you’re in a real neighborhood, not some sterile chain. Parking was a godsend too; there’s secure spots right under the building, which is clutch in Canberra where street parking can be a nightmare, especially if you’re hauling gear from a road trip up from Sydney.

The apartment itself has these big windows overlooking Anketell Street, which is bustling during the day with locals heading to the lake for walks (Lake Tuggeranong is just a five-minute drive, great for picnics if you’re into that), but it quiets down nicely at night—no major road noise seeping in, though you might hear the occasional tram bell from the light rail nearby. Honestly, it’s rated 8.5 for a reason; it’s clean, modern with that four-star polish—think sleek bathrooms with good water pressure and free Wi-Fi that actually streams without buffering—but it’s not without its quirks, like the air con being a tad noisy if you’re a light sleeper. We were there in spring, which is prime time before the summer crowds hit, and it was peaceful, though I’d avoid peak holiday seasons if you hate traffic around the mall.

All in all, if you’re looking for a no-nonsense base in Canberra that’s more affordable than those downtown hotels and gives you space to spread out—especially for a group of six—this place is a solid pick. It’s not glamorous, but it’s practical, and that’s what matters when you’re exploring the capital. I left thinking, yeah, I’d book it again in a heartbeat for a relaxed stay, maybe even extend it to catch the Floriade festival nearby. Just pack light; the elevator’s small, but hey, that’s Tuggeranong for you—unpretentious and real.

  I liked the location of the property. It was very quiet within the apartment. Plenty of room and spent time on the big balcony, which was very relaxing. Although we only stayed one night, the apartment had all the facilities needed for a longer a stay.
  
  What could be improved: There was nothing that I didn't like. If I was going to pick anything was that the garage was too small for my vehicle, but it wasn't a big problem to park in the carpark located near the apartment. So this didn't really bother me.
