Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon the 2 Bedroom Apartment Eco Living at Nishi in Canberra kind of by accident – I was in town for a quick work trip and needed something central without breaking the bank. It’s tucked away on the 11th floor of 25 Edinburgh Avenue, right in the heart of the NewActon precinct, which is this funky little artsy area that’s honestly one of Canberra’s hidden gems. If you’ve ever wandered around Lake Burley Griffin, it’s just a stone’s throw from there – like, a 10-minute stroll to the water’s edge where you can catch those crisp morning jogs or grab a coffee from one of the pop-up vans. Pulling up, the building itself has this cool, sustainable vibe; it’s all bamboo cladding and green walls that make you feel like you’re staying in some eco-retreat rather than a standard hotel. Check-in was a breeze – no fuss at the lobby, just a quick key handover from the front desk folks who were super laid-back, almost like chatting with neighbors. Oh, and parking? There’s underground spots, but they fill up fast during peak conference seasons in spring, so I’d book ahead if you’re driving in from Sydney or wherever.
Stepping into the apartment, it hit me how spacious it is for a 3-star spot – two proper bedrooms with comfy queen beds (the linens had that fresh, just-washed scent, you know?), a full kitchen where I whipped up brekkie using the eco-friendly appliances, and a living area that opens up to a balcony with killer views over the city. We’re talking sunsets that turn the whole skyline orange, especially in autumn when the leaves around Commonwealth Park start changing. It’s got that minimalist, green design throughout – recycled materials, low-energy lights, even the bathroom products are all natural and smell faintly of eucalyptus, which is a nice touch if you’re into that sustainable living thing. Honestly, it’s not flawless; the Wi-Fi can be spotty during busy evenings (blame the shared building network, I guess), and the walls are a bit thin, so you might hear the occasional door slam from neighbors – nothing major, but earplugs helped on my second night. Still, for a self-catering setup, it’s practical as hell; I loved being able to stock up on groceries from the nearby IGA on Marcus Clarke Street and avoid eating out every meal. And get this – the building has a cinema downstairs and a gym that’s open to residents, so on a rainy afternoon, I caught a flick without leaving the premises.
All in all, if you’re heading to Canberra for a few days – maybe to hit up the National Gallery or just explore the parliamentary triangle – this place is a solid pick, especially for families or couples who want that home-away-from-home feel without the hefty price tag. It’s rated around 7.2, which feels about right; not luxurious, but authentic and thoughtful in its eco approach. I mean, in a city that’s often all about politics and monuments, staying here lets you tap into the cooler, creative side of town. I’d go back in a heartbeat, particularly in the quieter winter months when the crowds thin out and you can really unwind on that balcony with a hot tea, watching the world below. Just pack light – the elevators are reliable, but the building’s got that lived-in buzz that makes it feel real, not sterile.

Location, view, kitchen, bathrooms, comfortable bed, spacious., big TV.
What could be improved: Quirky layout, it could be a little noisy with 2 of us staying.Great location – perfect place for people who don't like windows or fresh air. – Castle from Australia – 5 December 2024 (7/10)
The apartment is in a great location and the bar and restaurant in the building are great.
What could be improved: No windows or air-conditioning in the flat – it was very stuffy and dark. All the rooms are internal, it is very odd. I wouldn't stay here in summer.Very over priced and uncomfortable – Gillian from United Arab Emirates – 10 October 2024 (4/10)
What could be improved: Sliding door to ensuite didn’t close, window to outside walkway didn’t close, television had no free to air or available streaming you had to sign in with your own account details, loose floor tiles, rooms very small, no air conditioning,
Superb – Ben from Australia – 7 July 2024 (9/10)
We were late, having driven 5 hours, so missed out arranged time to pickup keys. The host made other arrangements & was very helpful. Thank goodness & much appreciated. The apartment floorplan is quite unusual. The location is fantastic! Parking downstairs a major bonus. The view is amazing.
What could be improved: The lounge furniture wasn't to our taste & we didn't find great comfort there, but we were out a lot so it wasn't a big deal. So good having the kitchen. We were unsure about the drinking water; there was half a portable water container to use. TV is great. We would def love to stay again. Thankyou.
