The apartment sits in this sweet spot where you can walk to the Australian National University campus in one direction and head into Canberra’s city center in the other – which is pretty perfect if you’re visiting for work at ANU or just want easy access to both the university vibe and the main downtown action. I mean, Canberra isn’t exactly a sprawling metropolis, but having that flexibility without needing to drive everywhere was actually really nice. The CanStay management company seems to have their act together too – check-in was smooth, and when I had a question about the wifi password (because of course I did), they got back to me within like twenty minutes.

What struck me most was how the place actually delivers on that “absolutely spacious” promise. The living area has this open layout that doesn’t feel cramped like so many rental apartments do, and there’s enough room to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. The kitchen‘s got proper counter space – not just some tiny corner setup – which came in handy since I ended up cooking a few meals instead of eating out every night. Honestly, with an 8.5 rating from other guests, I was expecting it to be decent, but the space genuinely surprised me. The bedroom’s got good natural light, and you’re not dealing with street noise, which can be hit or miss in this part of town. One small thing that bugged me initially was that the shower pressure wasn’t amazing, but it’s totally fine once you adjust expectations – this isn’t a hotel, after all. The whole setup feels more like staying at a friend’s place who happens to have good taste and actually cares about their guests being comfortable. If you’re the type who needs hotel services and daily housekeeping, this obviously isn’t your scene, but if you want a proper base for exploring Canberra without paying hotel prices, it’s honestly a solid choice.
