Dockside 3 Kingston ACT Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Dockside 3 Kingston ACT, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The name sort of suggests waterfront vibes, but Kingston in the ACT isn’t exactly what you’d call a maritime destination, you know? But after spending a few nights there, I actually get it now. The place has this understated charm that grows on you, especially if you’re the type who appreciates being close to all the action without the tourist circus that comes with staying right in the city center.
What really struck me was how the hotel sits in this sweet spot where you can walk to Kingston Foreshore in about ten minutes – and trust me, those lake views at sunrise are worth the early wake-up call. The staff mentioned that a lot of guests don’t realize they’re practically next door to the Old Bus Depot Markets until Saturday morning rolls around and they hear the buzz starting up. I mean, having fresh coffee and local produce literally around the corner? That’s the kind of convenience you don’t find in most hotel brochures. The rooms themselves are pretty solid – nothing fancy, but everything works and the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses, so that’s saying something). You’ll hear a bit of street noise if you’re facing the main road, but honestly, it’s just the gentle hum of Canberra life, not the chaotic traffic you’d get in Sydney or Melbourne.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – the whole area feels like real Canberra, not some sanitized hotel district. You’ve got Parliament House visible in the distance, Manuka’s restaurant strip is a quick drive away, and if you’re into that sort of thing, the diplomatic quarter is right there for your morning jogs. The parking situation is refreshingly straightforward too, which anyone who’s tried to park near the Parliamentary Triangle will tell you is no small blessing. I’d definitely stay here again, particularly if I had meetings in the parliamentary precinct or wanted to explore the lake without dealing with city center prices. It’s one of those places that just makes sense once you’re there – comfortable, well-positioned, and run by people who seem to actually care about getting the basics right.
To book a hotel in Canberra during major cultural festivals, travelers need early planning as this planned Australian city draws visitors eager to experience its parliamentary heritage and modern architecture.

Reviews of Dockside 3 Kingston ACT
Would definitely stay again. I bought one set of keys home, the staff member I spoke to was great. – Deirdre from Australia – 25 March 2025 (9/10)
Location and apartment were great
What could be improved: Entry to the security apartment complex was challenging. We didn't realise there were 3 A4 pages of written instructions in the envelope with the keys.
It would be helpful if there were clear instructions to access the parking via number 25 (apartment was 31-35)Location, Location, Location – Sarah from Australia – 20 December 2024 (8/10)
The apartment was really comfortable and well located. The location is amazing, and quieter than I expected it to be given how close it is to local restaurants and bars.

Great location nearby restaurants but well sound proofed apartment. Good secure parking.
What could be improved: The check in process with picking up keys etc was in itself a bit of a procedure.
Would have liked a king size bed.Great stay – – C from New Zealand – 4 May 2024 (8/10)
Location is excellent
What could be improved: Plumbing is odd – Kitchen taps knock and bathroom tap only a trickle.Superb – David from Australia – 3 March 2024 (9/10)
What could be improved: Didn’t like being compelled to provide personal information about my partner after I had already paid. Would not have booked this property if I knew in advance the checkin requirements.
Great location – Vicki from Australia – 17 January 2024 (8/10)
Great location, near good restaurants, cafes and bars. Well set out apartment for 2 people. Secure on-site parking. Quite, there was no noise from the dining venues at street level of the apartment block or any of the adjoining apartments.
What could be improved: While the apartment wasn't dirty, it could do with a deep clean particularly the balcony.
I was not impressed that the property required a digital copy of my licence and credit card the day before check-in. I have never had to do this with any other accomodation before.Superb – Myles from Australia – 4 November 2022 (9/10)
Great apartment, nice restaurants beneath.
