I’ll be honest – Forrest Hotel & Apartments wasn’t really on my radar until a friend recommended it, and I’m actually glad they did. The place has this sort of understated charm that grows on you, you know? It’s one of those spots that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with flashy lobbies or over-the-top amenities, but instead just gets the basics really, really right.

What struck me first was how quiet it is, even though you’re not exactly in the middle of nowhere. The apartments especially are perfect if you’re staying more than a couple nights – I mean, having a proper kitchenette changes everything when you’re traveling. You can actually brew decent coffee in the morning instead of hunting down the nearest café (though honestly, exploring local coffee spots is half the fun). The rooms themselves feel more like someone’s well-maintained guest apartment than a typical hotel room, which I found refreshing. There’s this lived-in quality without being worn down, if that makes sense.

The staff here actually seems to care about what they’re doing, which sadly isn’t always a given these days. During check-in, the woman at reception took time to mark up a local map with her personal recommendations – not just the obvious tourist spots, but places where locals actually go. That kind of insider knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re somewhere new. I also appreciated that they didn’t hover or oversell services; they just made sure you had what you needed and let you get on with your stay. The housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive, and they were flexible about timing when I needed to work from the room one morning. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches or Instagram-worthy design moments, but sometimes what you really want is a place that just works well. The Wi-Fi is solid, the beds are comfortable enough that you actually sleep through the night, and everything feels clean and well-maintained. Plus, having the apartment option means you can spread out a bit – store some groceries, do a load of laundry, feel a little less like you’re living out of a suitcase. For the price point and the genuine hospitality, I’d definitely stay here again.

  Comfy warm room and bed with extra blankets and electric blanket. Great location, within walking distance to the new Government House. A quiet neighbourhood. It was good to have the restaurant there, but a shame it was closed on weekends, however there are many places to eat located a short drive away. It was good value and I would stay there again.
