ibis Styles Canberra Eagle Hawk Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to ibis Styles Canberra Eagle Hawk, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a fairly standard business hotel on the outskirts of town. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby hits you with this unexpectedly vibrant, almost playful vibe that’s completely different from the usual corporate beige you get with most chain hotels. There’s this whole Australian wildlife theme going on (hence the “Eagle Hawk” name, I’m guessing), and while it could have easily felt gimmicky, they’ve done it with enough restraint that it actually works.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to genuinely give a damn about making your stay comfortable. I mean, check-in was smooth as anything, and the front desk person – Sarah, I think her name was – actually took the time to draw little notes on a map showing me the best coffee spots within walking distance. Speaking of walking distance, you’re not exactly in the heart of Canberra here, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s quiet at night (trust me, you’ll sleep well), and you can still get to Parliament House or the National Gallery in about fifteen minutes by car. The rooms themselves are what I’d call “smart small” – they’ve managed to pack everything you need into a compact space without it feeling cramped. The bed was actually really comfortable, which honestly isn’t always a given with these mid-range places, and the bathroom had decent water pressure, which is basically a miracle in my book.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – the little details that show someone was thinking about actual travelers, not just checking boxes. The USB ports are exactly where you need them by the bed, there’s enough desk space to actually spread out if you need to work, and the blackout curtains actually block out light (revolutionary, I know, but you’d be surprised how many hotels mess this up). The breakfast area gets pretty busy around 7:30-8:00 AM with what looks like a mix of business travelers and families, but if you hit it a bit earlier or later, it’s perfectly pleasant. Nothing fancy food-wise, but the coffee’s decent and there’s enough variety to keep you going. I will say the parking situation is straightforward – there’s plenty of it and it’s free, which is honestly refreshing after dealing with some of the downtown hotels that charge you an arm and a leg just to leave your car somewhere. Look, this isn’t going to be the most Instagram-worthy hotel you’ve ever stayed in, but sometimes you just want a place that does the basics really well without any drama, and that’s exactly what you get here.

Reviews of ibis Styles Canberra Eagle Hawk
Usually okay but maybe not that dog friendly. – Jayne from Australia – 12 July 2025 (6/10)
Good location, spacious room, good parking.
What could be improved: Quite a lot of noise at night. People coming home late. Also, “dog friendly” didn’t say $30 extra per day for cleaning. The dog used no linen, no crockery, no Manchester. If the dog had caused damage etc we would have paid. Not sure how the extra charge is calculated and what it is actually based on. Being advertised as dog friendly means what? There were no obvious signs or facilities for dogs. It did feel like fee for no service. In addition the a/c in the room sounded like an aircraft approaching the runway. Very noisy.Very good – Kristy from Australia – 11 July 2025 (8/10)

Breakfast was delicious
The entrance looked awesome, very modern
The room we used was spacious and fitted our needs exactly
The pool was clean and well kept
What could be improved: The walls of the rooms were not entirely clean, with unidentified marks and stains on the walls, bathroom, bathroom floor mat, and kitchen area.
The kitchen did not have a kettle
The playground felt abandoned and needed an updateGreat location, great space and comfort, but could use some updating and better cleaning. – Mohammad from United Kingdom – 25 April 2025 (8/10)
large room, good beds, good bathroom and shower, small park and pool. good location on the main road for car users and close to Canberra. Decent and well priced breakfasts
What could be improved: cleanliness was an issue (not cleaned thoroughly before we came), and also wear and tear of furniture and facilities, old and could use some upkeep. TVs are old and not good reception.Good – Melissa from Australia – 24 April 2025 (7/10)
We got a free upgrade to a family room. Was quite spacious. Had everything we needed. Would stay again. It was clean, and comfortable. All staff were lovely. Included a microwave which was good.
We went to the restaurant for dinner on the first night and the meals were good and a decent size.
What could be improved: We paid for breakfast to be included. The staff were all lovely but the bacon was swimming in oil both days. It wasnt great. We should've just had toast in the room.
Shower was clean enough but the shower head was too low to stand under and also covered in lime scale which didn't look great.
The tv only had 2 channels.
