So I stumbled across Staying Places – The Avenue during one of those frantic last-minute booking sessions, and honestly? Best accidental find I’ve made in ages. You know how sometimes you book a place based purely on the ratings and cross your fingers – well, that 9.1 rating isn’t just inflated review nonsense, it’s actually spot-on.

The first thing that hit me walking in was how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between feeling boutique-y without being pretentious about it. The lobby has this really nice understated vibe – not trying too hard, but clearly someone put thought into making it feel welcoming rather than corporate. Check-in was refreshingly smooth too, which I mean, sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places mess that up. The staff genuinely seemed to care about whether you had everything you needed, not just going through the motions.

What really won me over though was the attention to details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The room had proper blackout curtains (thank god), decent water pressure in the shower, and – this might sound weird but hear me out – really good lighting. You know how hotel room lighting is usually either blindingly bright or so dim you can’t read anything? They actually got it right. Plus the beds are properly comfortable, not just fancy-looking. I’m someone who usually tosses and turns the first night in a new place, but I slept like a rock here. The whole place runs pretty quietly too – I never got woken up by hallway conversations or slamming doors, which tells me they’ve thought about soundproofing. It’s those little things that make you realize a place is run by people who actually stay in hotels themselves and know what’s annoying. I’d definitely come back here, and that’s saying something because I’m usually all about trying new spots rather than repeating.

  The Avenue apartment was very clean, super well equipped and very close proximity to Canberra Central and the Jolimont bus terminal. A great secure car park too.

  The apartment "Beatrice" at The Avenue is located very conveniently, close to Jolimont Centre and within short walking distance of the CBD and ANU. This is why initially I chose this accommodation. On arrival, I was, however, pleasantly surprised that the apartment contained everything I could ask for, and more: a washing machine and dryer, a really comfy bed (which is not always the case), and it was very spacious! Also, Emmy is a very friendly and flexible host, providing tea, coffee, and milk, as well as some basic condiments. She also responds promptly to communication via the messenger, which is very reassuring.
  I fully recommend this accommodation and will certainly be back!
  
  What could be improved: I really cannot think of anything. Maybe the regular check-out time could be a bit later (it's 10 a.m.). But when I apologetically stated that I'd unfortunately be 30 minutes late, Emmy was absolutely lovely and said that wouldn't be a problem. So, everything was great!
