I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name Stylish, Modern, Cute as a Button – Braddon CBD, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s quite the mouthful, right? But you know what, it actually delivers on every single word of that promise. This little gem sits right in the heart of Braddon, and I mean properly in the thick of things – you can basically roll out of bed and stumble into some of the best coffee shops in Canberra. The Hamlet, ONA Coffee, Lonsdale Street Roasters – they’re all within a stone’s throw, which honestly saved my life during a particularly brutal Monday morning.

What struck me most about this place is how they’ve managed to nail that tricky balance between modern design and actual comfort. The interiors are clean and contemporary without feeling cold or sterile – there’s this warmth to the space that makes you want to kick off your shoes immediately. The kitchen setup is brilliant if you’re planning to stay more than a night or two (and trust me, you’ll want to). I ended up cooking more than I planned because everything you need is right there, plus there’s something satisfying about making your morning coffee while looking out at the leafy Braddon streets. The bed situation is spot on too – proper comfortable, not just Instagram pretty.

Location-wise, you’re golden here. Braddon has this lovely village feel despite being so close to the city center, and you get the best of both worlds. The light rail runs nearby if you need to get around, but honestly, so much is walkable from here. Haig Park is perfect for morning runs, and when evening rolls around, you’ve got your pick of restaurants and bars without dealing with tourist crowds. I particularly loved being able to grab groceries at the IGA just down the road – it’s those little conveniences that make a place feel like home rather than just somewhere you’re crashing. The whole area gets pretty quiet after dark too, which means actually sleeping through the night instead of listening to traffic or party-goers. It’s one of those stays where you find yourself already planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out.
