Tall Trees Ainslie Motel Overview
Look, I’ll be honest with you – Tall Trees Ainslie Motel isn’t going to win any design awards, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need. I stumbled across this place during a work trip to Canberra, and you know what? It actually grew on me pretty quickly.
The thing about staying in Ainslie is that you’re sort of tucked away from all the tourist chaos around Parliament House and the lake, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. I mean, you can walk to the shops on Limestone Avenue in about five minutes, and there’s this little bakery nearby that does incredible meat pies – definitely better than anything you’ll find in the parliamentary triangle. The motel itself sits on this quiet street where the only real noise comes from the occasional magpie having a morning argument with the neighbors. Actually, those tall trees they named the place after? They’re legit – proper old eucalyptus that give the whole property this nice, shaded feel even on those brutal Canberra summer days.
What I really appreciated was how straightforward everything was. The rooms are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but the beds are comfortable and the air conditioning actually works properly (which, trust me, matters when it hits 35 degrees). The owner seemed to genuinely care about the place running smoothly, and check-in was refreshingly simple after dealing with some of those bigger chain hotels that make you jump through hoops. There’s decent parking right outside your room, which is a blessing if you’re driving around the capital trying to figure out all those roundabouts. I stayed during a pretty busy conference season and the place was quiet enough that I could actually get some work done in the evenings. The wifi held up fine for video calls, though I wouldn’t try streaming four movies at once or anything. Honestly, for the price point and the location, it hits that sweet spot where you feel like you’re getting fair value rather than being gouged. It’s the kind of place where you check in, get settled, and then just get on with whatever brought you to town – which sometimes is exactly what travel should be about.
