Walking up to 112 at Plush Midnight on Elouera Street, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect — the name alone had me curious. This boutique property sits quietly in Canberra‘s inner south, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. You know what struck me first? The fact that there’s actual free parking right on site, which anyone who’s driven around Canberra will tell you is worth its weight in gold.

The Neighborhood Feel

The location here is genuinely special, and I mean that — recent guests have been rating it a solid 9.0, with couples giving it an even higher 9.7. I can see why, actually. You’re tucked away on a residential street that feels properly local, not touristy at all. It’s close enough to the parliamentary triangle that you can easily get to all the major sights, but far enough out that you’re experiencing Canberra like someone who actually lives here. The morning walks around this area are lovely — tree-lined streets and that particular Canberra quiet that’s hard to find in other Australian capitals.

What Makes It Special

This isn’t your typical hotel experience, and that’s exactly the point. Each room feels more like staying in a carefully curated private residence than a commercial property. The attention to detail is what gets me — from the way the lighting works (actually functional for reading, imagine that) to the little touches that show someone really thought about how people use a space. The whole property has this midnight theme running through it, which could have been gimmicky but somehow works perfectly.

Practical Comforts

Here’s what I appreciated most during my stay — everything just works without fuss. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into everything. There’s proper storage space, decent WiFi, and — this might sound small but it matters — good water pressure. The restaurant situation is interesting too; while there isn’t a traditional hotel dining room, the area around Elouera Street has some excellent local spots within easy walking distance.

That 9.3 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen — you can feel it in how the place operates. The staff genuinely seem to care about your experience without being overly formal about it.   It was lovely and quiet. It was in easy walking distance to our entertainment venue. The bed was very comfortable and although we didn’t use the kitchen, it was well set up. All major streaming facilities available if desired.
  
  What could be improved: The only issue was the smell of the building hallways until we got to the room. Was not an issue past that point but I think the cleaners are going overboard with a weird smelling deodoriser or something!
