I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name Magic at Midnight – Braddon CBD – 1 Bd 1bth Apt, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It sounds more like a fantasy novel than accommodation, right? But after spending a few nights here, I get it. There’s something genuinely charming about this little one-bedroom setup tucked into Braddon‘s bustling center that only reveals itself after dark, when the CBD quiets down and you’re left with this cozy pocket of calm.

The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – you’ve got your bedroom, bathroom, and a living area that doubles as your kitchen space. Nothing fancy, but honestly, that’s part of its appeal. The place feels lived-in rather than sterile, which I actually prefer over those cookie-cutter hotel rooms. What really won me over was the location – you’re right in the thick of Braddon’s cafe scene, and I mean you can literally roll out of bed and grab coffee from some of Canberra’s best spots. The Ori Building is practically next door, and if you know Braddon, you know that puts you within walking distance of Lonsdale Street’s restaurant strip. I spent way too much money on dinners just because everything was so accessible.

Parking can be a bit of a puzzle during the day – this is CBD territory, after all – but evenings and weekends are much easier. The building itself is quiet enough, though you’ll hear the occasional late-night reveler on weekends (hence the “midnight” reference, maybe?). The bathroom’s compact but functional, and the bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night. You know what surprised me most? The little touches that showed someone actually cares about this place – decent coffee pods, proper hangers, and a shower that maintains water pressure. With a 7.9 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after staying here, I’d say that rating feels about spot-on. It’s not luxury, but it’s genuine comfort in one of Canberra’s most walkable neighborhoods, which honestly beats a fancy hotel room in some soulless part of town any day.

  it’s a very cozy property! modern, spacious & clean. We loved how close it is to everything- walking distance from the shopping centre.
  
  What could be improved: the keys handed to us didn’t work for parking/ boom gate.. a little bit unorganised as we were locked out for about 45mins to an hour after arriving.
